a powerful story, Dallas. as one has recently gotten sober after 45yrs of alcoholism, I can relate. personally, 12 steps wasn't for me for a lot of reasons. what worked for me was a Program that was more Behavior Modification. ACT, CBT & DBT. and mindful meditation and stillness. I have never felt so alive......meeshu

I love the title of your book, Dallas. Shaking the family tree is bound to drop all kinds of things to the ground.

An excellent and easy to read and remember narrative of an AA meeting and finally coming to the realization.

I remember my aunt saying there's one alcoholic in every family. To which I responded, really? Then how come three in our family died from cirrhosis of the liver in the same year? It really gave her a bit of a jolt. lol.

Great writing and subject and I'm sure it will be a helpful book to many.

Gloria

Hello, this is a well-written story. I enjoy works that are true. I think it reads smoothly and has an easy to read style. I noticed no glaring errors, but I'm guessing previous reviews helped you iron any problems out.

' ...I sacrificed adulthood to years of bad decisions ...' I'd like a dollar for every time I've heard that.

There is a lot of life's lessons in your writing, and thanks for sharing it, Ana.

Thank you, Ana. Actually the nits and spags were worked out before publication. I wrote this anonymously for a few reasons. Made it extremely difficult to market so I decided to put it out here to see if it is worth the effort to continue trying. The response has been awesome so I will continue doing do so. Thank you for following. About half way there.

What a worthwhile issue to write about. Sharing your story is an inspiration to others in need. I loved this line: Like the layers of an onion, my facade was peeled away
that's when I heard her whisper, I'm your child, come out and play. Well-written, with your honesty and raw emotions!

Your biography is getting more and more interesting to read for this reviewer, because you take me to new realm and new insights I never reached or had.

I enjoyed it and found it entertaining as well, knowing the world of others. No spags that I could detect. The plot is sprinkled with a variety of intriguing situations.

The pace of the story - which is what impresses me most in it - is great. And that air of mystery remains intact too. I find myself eager to find out what will happen next, if not what is happening anyway.

I haven't read any other chapters, but this one reads easily. I see how this could be helpful to others.

Suggestions:
comma needed after "AA," but not after "drinking"- Thanks to AA I no longer had a drinking, partner.

Thanks for sharing your story.

That was the first day of a twenty-eight-year-old relationship that changed my life. We became the Lone Ranger and Tonto, trekking off into unknown territory. I had so much to learn. Little did I know then that my guide was a drug and alcohol counsel(l)or. God works in mysterious ways.' I loved this...as I know what you went through I myself had a terrible benzo addiction. Well written kindest regards and keep up the good fight love Meia xx

Your lyrical prose once again makes the account stand out from others who have written on recovery. Like you, I'd be afraid to ask anyone to be my sponsor. In high school no one wanted me as a partner.
You went in through the back door--group therapy meetings for Adult Children of Alcoholics. Clever. That's what I would do too.

Your poem adds to the narrative as always. Sorry I have no sixes left. Your writing always deserves the highest rating.

Again, very well written.
You have a way of drawing the reader in so that I 'hear' the story instead of reading it.
Very nicely done. I'm looking forward to much more.

A detailed, emotional essay on the journey of an alcoholic through AA and the process of coming to terms with your condition and finding a way out of it. You really go through the whole process of admitting you have a problem, dealing with the trepidation of joining the group, and making a contact and beginning a relationship that begins the healing. estory
