Dear Bob,
I agree with your short poem, "Wake Up America". In this short poem, your words lead the reader to a larger story. It is a "nightmare" to think of our unsafe schools as one example of the changes we need to achieve.
My best,
Deb

If only our horrendous social problems could be change... Thank you for devoting your 2-4-2 to an issue that must be a priority in terms of finding solutions or at least improvement. I hope your entry was well received. Sighs- Joan

Thanks so much, Joan. Nothing to be done about it according to Mitch McConnell last week. Ugh! Have you read my chapter three yet? You should have gotten notice if you have become a fan of mine. (thanks so much) Bob

It's horrifying how often guns are found in schools, and it's even worse when they are used to kill our innocent future. Your poem is well written, Bob, and the emotion is felt everywhere. Best of luck.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Hello Bob, I'm glad someone has pinned an exceptional rating to this poem. I enjoyed it's common sense and can think of no better subject for an American to write a poem about. The statistics for death by gun, are absolutely off the scale, so much so, you wonder how a country of intelligent, supposedly Christian people, can continue to accept them. I saw no errors, and love the art you've chosen for your very political verse. Thanks for sharing it Bob, and have a great day, Ana.

Thanks for sharing this, Bob.

While the list of nightmares you provided is small, the problems of today's society is probably long enough to make a thesis out of it. JW

Sorry, to say I completely agree with your assessment of our US school system. I would drop the "no" in the first line, but it is always your choice.

Thaanks, Val. I would do that but it is a 2-4-2 contest. That means the first line has to be two syallables.etc

Thanks a lot, my friend. Bob

We do everything else online, so why not schools. Where I live they need 80-million dollars to build a badly needed high school, and don't have the money. So they are raising taxes on every household in the county about $200/ year. It' not much, but it's one of a never ending out-of-pocket fix from the community. Do education online and, we don't need new schools, don't have to worry about gun threats in school, and so on. However, our children won't learn to deal better with others, which is already a struggle anyway. I don't really know the answer, and no one else does either. How about parents finding more time to help raise and teach their babies how to succeed and get along in society? Just one of many things neglected. I practically raised myself too, and there was plenty of trouble for me to get into, but now days, there are just too many temptations. Sorry, just realized I'm rambling again. I wish we knew the answers. One lost life is way too many. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Hi, Ric. And aA big Amen to all you have said here. Good ideas. Mothers aren't home for their kids like they were in the 50s and 60s. They have to work in many cases because they are single mothers too. Yikes! I am glad in a way that I am only going to be around about five to ten more years. But I worry for my kids and their kids. (: Thanks, Don.

You're right, things never change. It seems some crazy starts something and others follow his lead. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. I will look for more of your writings.

A very powerful 2-4-2 statement. The artwork is a great choice. America seems to be slow on the uptake when it comes to investigating and implementing solutions to this problem. Every time it happens the rhetoric is the same and nothing happens. I think the Gov of Fla is the only one walking his talk,

I really. Like him. My kids were vacationing inthe Keys last year when that hurricane went thru. It was touch and go for them trying to make their way out of Fla. They had nothing but praise for how well the evacuation was handled.
