Canada in the eighteenth century? No matter, if I hadn't come into the middle, I'd know. But then tomahawks were used in the Nam affair, too...excellent writing.

ohhhhhhh no! you devil! what an ending. those poor girls will go crazy.
well, this is some story, all right. and you won All Time Best. good for you.
I hadn't read any of the story before this, but for those who had/did, I bet you really got them!
This is certainly well written and suspenseful. But...Poor girls! I can't get over that the were eating their own parents. whew.
Well, good luck in the contest. No one will forget your story, that's for sure. :)

The action certainly isn't lacking here. We are getting to know Flint now as a hero of a wild West we are unfamiliar with. The plot is like present and past intertwined, but I find it good reading, Giddy

Great descriptions of the grotesque woman, unfortunately it was easy to visualize her. Quite a way with words has she, -
eatin' be a fam'ly affair. Good finish G and a great chapter.

Okay...I did not need that visual of that "hearty" soup....eeeeeyuuuuu! :) :) Kinda that same sinking feeling you got as a kid watching Charlton Heston's revelation about Soylent Green! LOL Great write, sir -- dialogue and action perfect for the reader to not even see that ending headed toward them: was so wrapped up in the situation your words had created. :) :)

Thanx for sharing!

Seeing as this is one of the few ongoing stories I'm following I'll dispense with the small talk and dig right in, if you don't mind, Gareth. To put it another way, I'm kinda eager to get started to see what's happened, lol...

"Shut yer face, pretty boy." She poked the rifle barrel into Flint's bloody shoulder, eliciting another groan. "Yer a fine lookin' specimen, ain't ya? I could jus' gobble ya up." She leant forward as a chuckle rippled her numerous chins. ...Now THAT is an image I could have done without, G-man. Yuck!

The fire burned well and the soft glow from it and a couple of oil lamps gave a cosy glow to the room.... Good thing, considering the situation the group found themselves in. Ain't nothin' like a roarin' fire to warm the coldest of hearts.

"Now, what happened to the girls' folks?"

She sighed and a small smile rose on her lips. "Why, tha're right here."

The two girls paused in their eating and cast glances around the kitchen. Flint got a sinking feeling in his gut.

The bound woman chuckled, her fat frame rippling. "Al'ays said eatin' be a fam'ly affair."
... Well, you know what they say, Gareth...
The family that bleeds together feeds together.
Yummy. This gives a whole new meaning to having your family for dinner.
Yet another excellent chapter, highly entertaining.
~Dean

Yep, adds another meaning to 'she's got her father's eyes' as well... lol

I could write these things all day. It's a lot of fun. Many thanks for the great feedback and review. Always entertaining. Cheers G

Yeee--uck.

Nicely done, Gareth. The drama you're revealing, bit by gruesome bit, sounds far too real. It sounds authentic and possible, mores the shame

I like the characters. Hate to premise - even as I gobble IT up. Ha! Thank you!

Yuck.
Cannibalism. (As if she wasn't disgusting enough, G.)
You've topped the charts with this gem. hahahahaha
You're timing was perfect throughout and awesome with a quick reveal at the end.
I'm still seeing the kitchen scene and have put a twinkle in the old woman's eye as she, even though bloody and bound, manages to strike.
Evil personified.

Fine stuff. You're on a roll.

that darn porker cooked the girls folks. What a WAY TO GO. SO SAD FOR THE GIRLS TO LEARN OF THEIR DEMISE THAT WAY. HE SHOULD SHOOT HER.

Best chapter so far, G. Outstanding descriptive action, easy to follow dramatic events, and strong word use to allow the reader to get into the adventure of 5e story. Gross ending, but perfect!
