Having your freedom taken away would be a tough pill to swallow, I imagine.
Thank heavens that's all I have to do where that is concerned--imagine.
But, if you commit the crime you gotta do the time.
Good flash fiction, I could feel your protagoniost's anticipation.
Best of luck to you.
~Dean

Thank you for your review, Deano.

I cannot see your profile in order to return the review...

reply by Dean Kuch on 09-Aug-2018
    Hmmmmm...that's odd.
Do you use the old FanStory or the new?
Some members have expressed to me the fact that my profile and much of my work is obscured in FanStory Classic.
Perhaps try the new site, if that's the case.
Regardless of that you're more than welcome.
    ~Dean :)

Ah yes! I hate the new site. That blue drop-down page leaves a tiny weeny window in which to see anything. Crazy! lol Why don't they snip off a couple of inches?

I'll go into the new one and grumble out- loud as I read your latest :)

reply by Dean Kuch on 09-Aug-2018
Hahaha, I know what you mean. I'm not too fond of the new site myself, but...it is what it is.
    Thanks, m'dear. :)

I just read your autumn haiku and really didn't t get the satori line, so I opted for that nasty forest and its secrets instead. AWesome write, Dean.

You mean "winter's rain awaits", Tracey?
The word "rain" is used here as a double intendre--or, a play on the word "reign"--as in winter will soon take over.
Pretty simple when interpreted either way, really.
    ~Dean

This is beautifully written. I understood it as the prisoner was being executed...is that correct? The image of the sunflowers nodding goodbye really struck me.
Best of luck to you in the contest,

Well... he may well be about to be executed, but then aagin, perhaps he is about to commit suicide or, simply be released from prison, after serving his time... who knows :)

Good job, Mystery Author, with your contest entry. Your lines flow smoothly with a freely, with a bittersweet message. Yes, Peter knows his 'freedom' is not far away. Best wishes. Jan

A very solid but solemn story told in fifty words. If there is a lighter side to your very short story, it's that this prisoner has faith and that makes his death a little easier to accept. Best wishes.

Thank you for your review, Victor.

I don't know if this particular prisoner has faith or not, but in either case, what ever is about to happen, ie freed from prison, hung or commit suicide, he seems at peace. :)

reply by victor 66 on 07-Aug-2018
You are welcome, But I do wonder, how many people are there that are about to die and feel that piece is coming?

reply by the author on 07-Aug-2018
    Good evening.

Well... We are assuming first of all, that he is about to be executed. Let's agree on this :)

If let us say then, our prisoner has committed the ultimate crime, ie, he has taken the life of another. We can suppose one of two things. Either he accepts his fate, because the crime he committed was, in his eyes, a justifiable one, or he doesn't except it and sees fit that he should die rather than spend his life behind bars.

Death is just a part of life as life itself. What is there to fear?

reply by victor 66 on 08-Aug-2018
    "Are you afraid of dying?"

"No, it just comes at an inconvenient time."

reply by the author on 08-Aug-2018
I don't mind dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens :)

A quite interesting and intriguing story you've written in just 50 words. It flowed well and had no errors either in grammar or punctuation. Well written. Good wishes in the contest.

This is an excellent entry for the contest
setting up the situation nicely in just fifty words.
A very calm feel belies the likely reality
that this is his last meal and sunrise,
Or maybe, he is just going to be released.
Nicely done
Good luck in the contest
RS
