This was poignant. I think your image of the face of your friend on the computer screen, with you reaching out to touch it with your fingertips, was terrific. Very emotional. "My face turned to rain" was a great image also. unique, original, and I like original. This piece showed good imagination in construction and execution. A really poignant piece on dealing with death and having to move on, half holding on to the past, half glad in the release from pain that she now has. A difficult situation to deal with and you made us deal with it. estory

This was very good. You did a great job of sharing your grief, by coming back to a grounding place. (The blue hair)
Your style resonants w mine-I tend to use a repetitive line or two to keep my thoughts linear.
You do this w the blue hair.
I can feel the emotion of how you comfort yourselve by remembering a time that was better. That memory has helped you to continue you forward as your soul heals.

I lost my best friend, my brother. i remember going to the grocery store and thinking that how can I do normal living if my brother is not here .

In the flip side, I was close to committing suicide. I understand the need to escape the world.

I have had 3 years of recovery and doing well. I started writing 2 years ago. I write my pain and find my courage and take the hard steps.

Thank you for sharing.

A very well-written heartfelt and sad poem. It is a great memory that you have created for your friend to remember her by. I am sure everytime it pops up she is there with you.

Diana, what a bittersweet memory. What a wonderful, personalized tribute. At the passing of a loved one, I always try to remember the great things we shared. I really loved the last line. Thanks for sharing. Hugh

Oh, wow. This is hard. I can't imagine what you would be going through as your friend faced this horrendous battle. I have one friend who has fought breast cancer TWICE, but so far she has been victorious. She's one of my very best friends and I don't know what I'd do without her.

Hugs to you!

I enjoyed your heartfelt story. Sometimes we have to write about matters to give our own selves closure. I love your friend's spirit, that she chose to dye her hair a fun shade when faced with such a dark prognosis.

Oh this was so sad but beautifully written a memory to keep forever in your heart
think of the joy you shared, the pain is now at an end - I am assuming it was the dreaded 'C'

Hi Diana. I could have done with some notes on this one. Is there somebody real involved or is this fictitious? Great emotion in this one. Here I stumbled.

"Wishing I could've assuage your pain.
But, our lives had other plans.". I think could rather than could've is better. You think? Otherwise it would be assuaged. Thank you for sharing

It is sad we have to lose one so close to us. we know they are in good hands now and will never have to face the pain ever again.

Excellent poem! This is so nice of you of remembering your friend. It is a sweet poem about friendship. I like it. I like how you said wonderful things of your friend. I hope that isn't the last time you see this nice person. I like this poem. Good luck in the contest!
