This spiritual poem, Walking Still, brings the reader to the author's side to hear the determination to press on. We have ourselves and God to motivate and strengthen us. Need both to keep it up.

Thank you for reading my work.
I write a lot about my struggles as a tool to self encourage. I think if God could send his son to die for the whole world, then I can get up every day and manage to keep pushing forward. God gives us the strength for the day.

I love the picture and how it shows upward movement. The gray and orange are beautiful opposites. An insisting piece of writing which uplifts and gives great hope.

My biggest struggle is getting up everyday. I wrote this on a morning of such despair. By the time I finished, I was ready to go forward. It?s a daily battle, but God strength is there for us
    Everyday

This is a very well written and very true poem you have penned about walking every day with mental illness but trusting in God the whole way. It does make all the difference. I always think of the scripture that says I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. It is so full of the truth. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. May God bless you today! Teri

It sounds like a lot of pain for one person to bear to compare it to that of the stories told of Jesus. That is a comparison and intensity that readers don't come across often.

Good luck in the contest

It is hard. I came close to committing suicide 3 years ago. My mother and my therapist put me inpatient. Very humbling. Best and worse experience of my life.
I settled the suicide issue, realizing it was not my choice.

The poem for me expresses my gratitude that I can trust in a God that sacrificed everything so that l can someday be free. A God strong enough to carry the pain of the world.

It gives me courage to get up and keep doing life.
I have come a long ways in the last 3 years. I am not cured, but I have tools to manage. Recently, I have been released from therapy.

Mental illness runs deep in my family. My heart grieves for my son, who grapples w deep sadness.

This is not a comparison, but understanding what has been done for me. How can I give up?

If it is God that gives you the strength you need to say engaged with life then good for you friend. Some who walk similar paths don't manage to find that one thing that can help save them from themselves. Keep walking : )

I came close to choosing death, but my faith in God ultimately helped me to understand it is not my decision to make.

A very moving and touching poem...about God and mental illness... God is such a safe and loving harbor.. he welcomes all.. particularly those who have been cast aside by society... that is something that always drew me to God -- because I too, have been cast aside by many because of my lifestyle, and people can be so quick to judge and turn hateful... but God is always accepting, loving and forgiving... you have God on your side, and that there is no competitor out there that comes close to the grace, love and eternal life that they can offer... Keep stepping out and stepping up --I am proud of you for facing these demons and the dark and small people of the world who judge others in order to make themselves feel better... I love your phrase: "...He walked with all that big pain.
Walked straight up that hill
to his death.
Then He nailed it, that pain.
So yes....
I am going to walk today..." you show courage, strength and devotion.. God Bless You! Excellent poem - thank you for sharing a part of your story... I am honored...

This brought tears to my eyes. I deal with chronic severe depression (among other things) and it felt like you were talking about me. Sometimes it is so hard, almost impossible, to take that first step. Faith in God is also hard for me sometimes, but I keep trying. Hang in there.
Best of luck to you in the contest,

    Thanks for reading.

They have started peer to peer counseling.
Only people that have suffered mental illness get trained.

You might check around to see if there is something like that or call The national association for mental health.
    It?s hard.
It?s a moment by moment, day by day.
    I am in pretty recovery.
    Yes recovery is possible.
You are not cured, but have the ability to manage the illness

I have a lot of tools.

    It?s a very lonely life

I started this year w a lot of self care.
    Massages etc.
a lot of doctors will now prescribe massages so u might not have to pay out of pocket.
    God bless

This truly is a most poignant and captivating God & Faith poem, impassioned,
realistic and sincere in spiritual breadth, depth and scope. Relating to
God's power, love and grace that always sustains and encourages when all
else fails or falls short, and how despite your mental challenges, it is
your best med and helpful therapy. Thanks for the courage and message
shared. God Bless.
Blessings, Ronni
