I am impressed with the second poem, very clever. I like how the bird's voice is heard here as he describes his life indoors. I like your verse where he is enjoying his life indoors with warmth. The pic is a beautiful bird.

I love two for one...that the poem can be read two ways...beautiful job .it could be an advertisement for buying one of these beauties.
Well penned. Good luck with the contest

In my opinion, a striking poem, both in verse and imagery - colorful and though a bit uneven in the last stanza only - the beginning and middle stanzas rhymes are easy and smooth in movement - this entry is in compliance with the prompt. Best of luck in the contest...

Brilliant poem about a most beautiful bird, complete with photograph that highlights this beauty- such a magnificent green. I enjoyed reading his little story and also thought it was incredibly clever and innovative that you put a poem within a poem- awesome. Good luck in the contest x

How clever to include a poem within a poem - but it certainly adds to the impact of how this bird feels in a cage. It ain't so bad after all when you analyze it. Artwork is gorgeous. Words flowed smoothly. And I can picture the warmth of the fireplace where his "hooman" sits with her treats ever ready. Well done!

Such a beautiful bird and your poem does it justice, I wish you luck with the contest, your word brought the image to mind and I would love to own one but birds just be free and not in cages in my opinion, love Dolly x

We have a Quaker Parrot which is barely bigger than a parakeet but a bit healthier type of breed.
Cool breezes adversely affect parakeets, up to the point where they will quickly contract arthritis and die.
We lost 4 parakeets while I was growing up from the age of ten, when my mother finally decided to give up trying to keep one as a pet, until I turned 17.
Hopefully your Indian Ringneck will fare much better than my mothers parakeets.
Good luck to you in the contest.

He is still mocking the birds that fly by his perch. He is 22 years old and going strong. I know that arthritis is always a danger and knock on wood he has has a grand life. Great image.
