I don't think I'd like your job, whatever it is. Your description was enough to make me not want to even ask. Good luck with this in the contest. I hope you have a better shift next time.

This was more of a memory of back when I did these terrible jobs as well as a link that I generally stay up all night to this day. Thank you for your comments.

Nice use of 50 words. You tell me it was a bad day at work, but I get the feeling it was typical. You're tired, hungry, and dirty. I felt the grit. Nicely done. I even got a kick out of reading your notes.

Thanks again. This was a pretty accurate reflection of years ago when I worked this series of miserable jobs. I did some really seedy things too while I was in college that I did not include here. Thanks again.

Sounds like a lovely job! lol. You managed to write about your job, your feelings about it, and how you felt when you come home. Altogether an excellent job with this 50 word contest entry. Well done and good luck. :)) Sandra xx

Fortunately for me these jobs are past tense. And while I still might stay up most of the night, at least now I like what I'm doing. Thanks for your comments.

I gave it a five because it reflected feelings from jobs that few would want to do but must be done.
a meat packing plant employing mostly illegal immigrants. It tilts your world.
Yeah, it would tend to be a rather shall we say 'disquieting'"?
"as a security guard in the suicide wing of a big city hospital."
Might tend to make me a little 'jumpy'.
The writing is excellent and revealing

The fact that those guys were 'illegal' wasn't really an issue for me. They were quiet and hard-working and generally as unhappy to be there at that time as I was. The 'tilted world' really was a humanization of stereotypes and an understanding of how brutal life can be for some people. I sat in a heated or air-conditioned book with a computer and books and did very little else. Those guys were in space suits covered with animal blood. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for the notes .They were very helpful
This is very short as per the requirements of the contest ,yet it tells a story of hard work and weariness due to the odd timings
The need to put off the light is understandable
all the best for the contest.

I have worked night shifts and it messes with your sleep pattern and makes you feel like a zombie so I could identify with your words here, go get some sleep! Love Dolly x

Thank you. It has messed with my sleep pattern permanently, I fear. I mean, I liked staying up all night. I like quiet.

I worked the Graveyard shift for ten years straight while thermal coating of components of various types for our Defense Dept. It's definitely a different way of life, no if's, and's or but's about it.
Your flash micro fiction story is well written with a start, a conflict and a resolution.
I noticed no spelling errors.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your comments. Your job sounds at least important. I sat in a heated or air-conditioned, rather claustrophobic booth, with a computer and lots of books, doing very little other than scaring off drunks that aimlessly wandered up, or humiliating people that tried to kill themselves by sitting in their room, watching them.

It definitely represents how someone would feel after working for so many hours. Maybe it's just me, but it also makes sense that you wouldn't want to say much after being so tired, hence 50 words. It contains all that someone wants to do after work. No lights, sleep, food, bath. Amazing!

Good work on your bio I fine your flash interesting. 50 words are very difficult to complete a story and you did a good job. Good luck in the contest.

And so I wish to evoke a time that has lingered with me until my work ethic to this day, sometimes damning my family, at other times just making me funny and mean-spirited, and surrounded by bitter enough people to keep me from feeling I am insane...and this really resonates with me. I read and re-read your story. It was almost worded like a modern poem. It is a very strong entry, good luck in the competition, reading your note I like your style :) Best regards Meia

Thank you. This one was very raw, reminding me of what my life is generally like anyway, and always has been. It's good to force some humility upon yourself sometimes.
