Different. Not sure if I liked it, but kept reading. Did the Ambassador lie to him about becoming the Emperor of the new colony? Or did I miss something? Read it a few more times to get the full impact of the plot, but still finished up with the same
confused result. Decided I liked it, and I want it to work, but did a liar, lie to the liar -in-chief?
If that's the answer, I'll take it, but if not, tell me otherwise....please
Willie

Thank you very much for reading And Reviewing Waste Managemement. Had in mind a one-way ticket to Mars, but word count limited explanation.

I'm glad this is fiction! You present a scenario of a president who has failed to heed the warnings about climate change and how dangerously close to ruin the planet is because of it. Sounds like "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with the warning coming from aliens. To men, humans may be able to do a few things that will have some small impact on improving air quality, etc. However, there has been climate change in the past (how about the Ice Age?) It will be some cataclysmic event that man has no control over that will determine earth's fate. Excellent writing, and best of luck in the contest. judi

Talk about an original take on flash fiction. I guess Trump gives everyone so many creative ideas. For me my writing is a way to escape politics, but I do like political satire and learn from different views. The deep state just got deeper from space.

I loved this. Anything that describes a world without Trump puts a big smile on my face. I wish you all the best in this flash fiction contest. I do miss your posts and am always thrilled when I see your name in my in box.

It's backlit behind each key. Sold as a gaming keyboard. Changes colors. Whoopee!

Excellent work, as usual, my friend. We don't hear from you often but it is worth the wait to read your unique stories. This one sure had a hilarious ending. I loved every word.

Hi there,

First things first, spot on in the word count, coming in just under the upper limit. Seems to be quite an achievement these days! lol

"We? Fumigate?" - stick a clear line in before this one.

I got a kick out this one. Nice slice of sci-fi realism commentating on the current climate. We should be on the endangered species list with no problems.

All the best
G

LOL, love the line about the digital hoax turning into a grim reality. Yes, there are things that are based in fact and alien invasion is one of them. Your descriptions are fantastic and of course climate change is very real.

Very nicely done, Ingrid. Just the right amount of humour and the setting perfect.

I wish you great luck with the Committee.

Gloria

When I read the passage below, I had to think of the president who shakes like a pwerforming monkey infront of his crowd, going Brrrr, it's freezing here. Where's the global warming, it's freezing!

Well done and addressing a worthy subject.

>Yes, the same president who has allowed toxic wastes to flow into the oceans and rivers; stripped the earth of valuable resources and allowed factories to spew chemicals into the atmosphere. You've upset the natural order, created devastating weather patterns and now the glaciers are melting at an alarming rate.<

Which president was that? I don't recall a president who shook in front of a crowd.

Thanks for reading and the review.

The one who likes to act out what he's saying. Like "Body-slam, whack! I like that guy who body-slammed...."

reply by the author on 24-Oct-2018
Funny I only saw a manic bravado, a performance with no substance. Thanks for clarifying. Don't forget to vote.

Now if SETI ever hears something and there is a UFO from space, that's how it will come down...Klaatu and Gort and machinery chomping locusts everywhere...I like the Keanu/Jennifer version better...the dogs bark but The Caravan passes...excellent flash fiction...

Sorry, the movie The Day The Earth Stood
Still, wherein Aliens freed the earth of it's disease(humanity) 1951, remade in 2008 with Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, not a bad flick
