Quite a story, exciting moments explosive to heart, poetic strong structuring in certain parts. I like the word items selected for this composition. A good read.

It is obvious that the author does have a firm grasp of history. His poem is a celebration of his extensive knowledge on the history of civilization and the significant stages it underwent from the beginning to the present. Thanks for sharing.

How I wish I had six to give. And, I kinda wish I'd read th notes first as there is so much info to help. You have certainly worked hard at researching/documenting the history of politics, war, religion in Celtic lands.
The progression of nature falling to industrialization and then triumphing in the end over it is a well done theme!

I enjoyed the originality of phrases, ideas like:
'oak wood banks that beetle down steep-sided
valley's flanks'

What a tour de force as a poem and as poetry and history course! I admired your rhymes and historical account of the supposed "progress". Here's to wind and solar power! Big cheers

Such a wonderful work I wonder why I ever thought I could write poetry! I confess to writing one of these once...a traditional (not "chain") one. I about had to check myself into the hospital for IV's and rest. Of all forms (even the Sestina!)--I found this one to be the most arduous. You present it beautifully--so THIS is what talent and skill are! I'll keep trying!

Whew...a history in poetic form unequaled....and it is interesting to me that in Alabama leery is still used. It is a frozen piece of English retained. I love the Celtic influence ..I love your name pantygynt meaning windy hollow...my name Jennifer is of Saxon origin...meaning white wave....not the kind the queen does...lol
My dad was evacuated to Wales...Mrytha Tidvyl not sure of spelling
LOVED IT
God bless

Many thanks for this review and the lovely stars. I am really pleased you enjoyed this. Jennifer is also found in Celtic roots as Guinevere, King Arthur's queen and of course the historical Arthur spent his adult life resisting your lot the Saxons, so your name is really older than you supposed.

reply by kiwijenny on 31-Oct-2018
I?m not sure I am Saxon. My maiden name was Hubbard...yep now I am an old mother and we got free bones for the dog..lol I feel an affinity for anything Celtic..I will hear someone singing in that language and I?m moved to tears...I don?t know why

This is a concise version of English history. Archeologists are finding new sites which had been covered over for centuries. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

It may be a little short on some bits but the parts of history that affected this Welsh valley most are included.. Many thanks for the complimentary review and the six star rating.

I hope you are suitably proud of this wonderful piece, a beautiful poetic history of your own part of your land.

I can only guess at the discipline and hours of work it took to piece this together. It makes fascinating reading, both the parts of the story I already knew and the parts that were new to me. The technical aspects are all but flawless, and as your notes state, you have avoided some of the repetition of the traditional crown. If you can be bothered, I found one unnecessary apostrophe (in the word 'its' in Sonnet 3)

I am sure some reviewers will be put off by the length, but they will miss a magnificent poem.

Steve

Thank you so much for this complimentary and detailed review, also for the six stars and the heads up on that 'it's', which is now sorted. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the number of reviews this attracted (42 to date) which could be a record for me, but I haven't been keeping count.

I have no doubt that this work deserves a six, so my apologies for not being able. I knew you were a poet, but this is an educational work of art. It is obvious that this work took some time to compose. It's very nicely organized. While I find the rules of poetry important, I also think there is a time and a place for variation from them, and I, for one, was glad to see that there was not the usual repetition of complete lines, as I often find the redundancy annoying. I also enjoyed the modification of the meter because it flowed perfectly well as written. There was a LOT of information presented, and the notes were necessary for me (and for many others, I'm sure) so it's a good thing they were included, however, the fact that I was sooo unfamiliar made it difficult for me personally to get/stay engrossed in the mood/feel of the poems like I would have preferred to do. Your imagery was clear and the rhyming was enjoyable, and I love the picture you included. Ending as you began was a nice touch. Well done, Sir.

Thank you for this detailed and complimentary review. Please do not concern yourself over the lack of a six, that sort of thing is bound to happen. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the piece.
