You write with such vivid detail that the reader can easily feel that they are sitting with you observing what is happening. This account indicates that you either did frenetic notetaking or have a photographic memory. There's an air of a private eye at work here. There is a cadence which matches that era. Well written.

You described the voting experience exactly as I remember it years ago with the older booths when my mother used to work as you did. It was damp and cold as I recall and basically quiet.
The absentee ballot is my choice now.

Nicely told. A time to remember.

I found this to be an exceptionally well done work of very rare life experience indeed! Certainly the exposure to the raw behavior's of (what would be expected to be civil and serious voters, and instead, human trash} would leave one with scars not easily excused or forgot, even by todays likely harsh and radical voters, probably still reflecting their angst in any public setting! The bias of politics is surely a dark and ugly energy force, I would expect generated by gross failures of those elected who failed to deliver what was promised or even expected! and not really promised by the politician. Lets face it, POLITICS IS DIRTY BUSINESS IN ALL DIMENSIONS! And I, like probably most anyone else have my staunch dislikes and miss trust, based on what history of performance has reported. I simply HATE DEMOCRATS therefore! Amen! But as a Veteran, a blue blooded AMERICAN, and a lover of AMERICA, and what we stand for! it is an energy that is deep, rich, honest and genuine! Thank you for your reply. I will admit that I do not hate anyone. It requires too much energy. I listen and dismiss people more frequently than I would like, but having any feelings for them at all seems pointless. And of course politics is dirty. At my current home, where the republicans run the show, it really is not much different in the atmosphere, although I am certainly nowhere near it as long. The Democrats, here, are certainly as victimized as the Republicans were there. There are bull rushes and screaming in their faces (this is the Democrats with fliers). The Republican candidates (this is the suburbs now) are far more smug than the city Democrats, but that is really because in the city they were more skilled politicians. I had been preparing this piece for a number of days for the day before election day. It has performed well (although you are the lone comment here) and I have had both right and left praise it. I suppose you get support when you do not take a violent opposition, perhaps a lesson for politicians. Thanks again.

Excellent work in all dimensions and certainly, you've been there and earned the scars and stripes! Keep up the fine work and thanks always! Vance
