    I am so proud of this particular poem.

    I don't know what came over me when I wrote it, but I was there on that chess board writing till the early hours, absolutely loving the story of this odd piece :)

That was a fantastic story! The rhythm was eloquent and flowed graciously as it should representing a regal game of chess. I also loved the duality of the story: a game of chess or a true battle of wits for a queen's life. The imagery and story brought me in and held me through all the way. Wonderful job and thank you for sharing!

This is very well done, and I'm sure other reviewers have said as much. The rhymed story follows the format required in the prompt, of which I'm not I'd be capable... at least not yet. But I'm smart enough to appreciate your creative endeavor. Best wishes.

I liked this most imaginative sorry in a poem, a fine entry in this contest, and, indeed a winner. I love the counter chess metaphor, this ancient game was designed exactly to portray how a human chessboard plays out. Written in slightly uneven meter, in articulate aabb rhyming, a splendid poem my friend, well done, blessings, Roy

Hello Trimple, This was really a very nice poem. I had forgotten near the end that it was about chess and when the Queen was being beheaded I was back in Old England... until a couple of lines later when I was brought back to the board! LOL A fun write!

A game of chess... can be symbolic of life and the so called game of life. It is skillfully written, each word weighed with precision and (even though I'm not a chess player) tactics. Insightful, meaningful, not necessary to understand the individual dynamics to appreciate this write.
