Another fine haiku, L. J.--sometimes, memories can haunt, uninvited, unwanted, about someone who was part of your life and then isn't. It's usually just a dull ache, but at times, like late at night, it's a stabbing pain

Thanks for excellent stars and review. Stay Safe Sanitize. Help me fix my burst pipes and flooded home due to Texas ice snow storms and 0 zero degree weather total electricity black out 7 days no lights no heat no tv no phone no water no cab service snowed in. Some people froze to death at home; families died in car running to keep warm with Windows up and garage doors down carbon monoxide poisoning an odorless colorless tasteless gas. There does seem to be a shadowy human figure in the center of the prism which is a good reflection of the words. The person can't get over the unrequited love and can't go on with life to find another. That is sad.
Keep writing
Joan

Oh wow deep and yet it fits very well with the picture you chose. What do any of us do? That is the question to ask, what we can I guess is the answer. Nicely done

Your Journey is greater than these beautiful words.
Journaling thoughts....
Cure pain..
Scars remain.
This was well written and rich in Theme as well as Imagery.
It read well and flowed well with no grammar issues as well.
Good luck with this.
Doc Rick.

Thanks, dear poet, for these shiny lovely stars and compassionate review. Why won't someone tell us fan story friends what illness he had? If you find out let me know. Still in shock. This contest has ended. lolol liberty justice

I favor your short verse style (in my own FS writing) for this poem. Your illustration and words form a delicious pair for this contest entry. Did like the impression you made on my mind.

The meaning of your three lines takes on a different viewpoint if "Why can't you love me?" becomes your final ending. LOL

This impression of an image, Trapped by My Memories, is a good example of the question which asks another to answer what no one really knows or will know.

I think that in our lives, we meet at least one unforgetable person that we can't seem to shake loose from memory. Depending on the circumstances, those memories haunt us and won't release their grasp. I like this and the powerful message conveyed. Well done

A very well-written poem about our memories that can sometimes get trapped in our thoughts and playing in our head over and over again and come to the conclusion that he never loved us anyway.

Hello to you
Some things you can't remember - some things you can't forget.
I think of memories like fulgurites: you know, the long 'glass' left by lightning strikes, upon hitting sand usually. Memories hit the brain sometimes like lightning and burn a pathway that is tough and hard, and which always has to be traveled, no matter what way we wander: sometimes we're thinking of 'x' and we just turn a corner and there's that unwanted pathway, lurking, waiting for us. Trapping us.
Time is the greater part of the solution - over time you learn to walk though your thoughts differently, avoiding the traps, but time alone won't do it. You have to have the strength to move on. You will never forget, it is burned too deeply, but you can learn to control the remembering. Like everyone, I am forever saddened and yet profoundly impressed that people came out of concentration camps after the war and went on to lead lives of great value and kindness: but they never forgot their sorrow. They learned to lead a life were they had control.
"Now" is all you can control. Find peace in this moment. The past is the past - write your thoughts out on a piece of paper and then burn it: the past is the past.
I wish you well - and I assure you that you are not alone.
cheers
phill

Phil thanks so much for these logical comforting healing words. Are you a psychiatrist or psychologist?
