I don't know who knitted my old dog but that was definitely a rush job. Haha! The old lady knitting draws us straight into the world of fairytales and then there's all the mystery about the cat and the old lady's mother. This story, while complete in itself, leaves the reader with a sense of wonder of where in the world have we arrived. It is also not a story you can read once and put down, far to intriguing for that. An exceptional piece of work. Best wishes, Peter

    Hello there, Peter

Thanks ever so for the brilliant and funny review :) Your dog sounds a bit like my ole retriever, Jack Daniels--a bit rough around the edges :)

I was sitting there, wondering what to write and went through a few of the old sayings my mum used to come out with.

One of them, should she be referred to as 'her' was, 'I'm not the bloody cat's mother. :)

Thank s also for the sixer :)

    kind regards

Hello trimple
Nice meeting you here on FS I read your 100 word flash about the lady wanting to purchase a cat that was being made with
blue yarn. It had to be so, I have never seen a Blue cat.

    Gert.

    Regarding your poem :)

I was just saying that I was using your poem as a template to write again.

I was not going to promote it as it's your poem, but I really enjoyed the concept of what you wrote :)

    Bless ya cottons :)

Of course, I shall. You know what sparked it all off, was that I read another review of that poem from Dolly. She had mentioned that it wasn't in true form and there was a brief discussion about lock and key?

So anyway... I read it a few times and thought I'd try to re-write it :) That's all. And when I spoke to you, I just mentioned it in passing without giving you the full details. So I can understand why you were a little anxious.

    much love

Nice to meet you. This looks interesting. Trying to figure out if the cat is being created with the needles or actually exists hehe. Well done. See you around. (Geoff- sankey, on Tootsie55 account)

I must admit, I had to read this story three times before I finally got it that the woman was knitting a cat. Once I got it, the story became even more intriguing. Love it!

You told this story well considering the strict restrictions. Wow, you had to use 100 words exactly. I did not count the words, but presumably you adhered the rules.

Good luck in the contest.

This is an intriguing 100 word story that creates a great deal of curiosity (much like a cat's) and can lead a reader into several potential directions. A blue cat? Wait until Tuesday? What is the cat doing? A mean mother? All hanging in the air.

A lovely story. She's knitting a cat? What a beautiful thought. If mine were knitted by someone, it would have been a rush job in some areas, but more thought in others lol. Great idea, and best wishes in the contest.

Knitting a cat...now that's a rare topic for a flash fiction, but has its charm...especially knowing how cats have personalities...excellent post
for the hundred word writing contest...

This one-hundred-word story, Indigo's Blues, meets the stringent limited word challenge and leaves me confused as to the cat. I like the idea that the cat can be a cat and the item being made a separate thing. Then there's the idea that the cat is the thing being fashioned, and all else flows from the mood of the creator during the time of inventing.

Hello Tracey!
How I yearn to be able to pen a story of this calibre. Mine are always so sensible. Yours is magical. I was engaged from the moment I began reading. This is such a mixture of reality and fantasy - poignant, yet eery. I read it aloud twice! And both times the words and magic resonated with me. Kudos!

Best wishes!

An interesting short tail...e-r-rrrr, heh-heh... tale to be sure, Tracey.
I believe the old woman doing the knitting was a bit taken aback by the stranger entering her shop. She seemed somewhat upset that her work had been interrupted.
And just how mean is the old woman's mother, in fact, and just how "old" is this knitting old lady if her mother's still living?
A coven of witches your protagonist wandered into, me thinks!
In the immortal words of Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac:
"She is like a cat in the dark and then
She is the darkness
She rules her life like a fine skylark and when
The sky is starless

All your life you've never seen
A woman taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you heaven?
Will you ever win?
Will you ever win?

Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon

She rings like a bell through the night and
Wouldn't you love to love her?
She rules her life like a bird in flight and
Who will be her lover?"

Well penned!

~Dean

    Good morning to you, Dean

How lovely of you to give such a splendid review and special rating.

Yep! Could be a witch... Could be a lotta things... :)

I have written this for the reader to draw on his/her own imagination as to what is happening here.

So glad you enjoyed this one
This is a little odd, I know. It just popped out!

I adore this song! I saw Fleetwood Mac, here in London couple years or so ago. What a cracking performance it was!

    Cheers you, Dean

    kind regards
