Richard,
I may be a little slow getting the gist of this, but let me just run this past you;
Only the words of young Jack, the monk's' heart can be heard....
Old Jack recites the 23rd psalm and says "good night" to the narrator. Presumably he is still a monk in his old age...
Is the narrator, God?

I enjoyed the imagery of this write...at least how I interpreted it :)
Best wishes, Debra

    Hi Debs,

    Fab review.
    Yes, it's God!
    You solved the puzzle!
    Shall I do some more?
    Thanks,
    Richard.

    Here's a musical riddle:

    My first is in rap;
    my second is in fiddle;
    my third is in gig.

    What sort of an animal am I?

    Oink!
    Yes, do some more...

On the one hand you could say it was a wasted life and then on the other hand everyone is entitled to live their life the way they want, food for thought here, love Dolly x

    Dolly,

    Thanks for your review.

    It's a conundrum.

    If you believe in God, life is like wrestling with a gorilla.

    If you don't believe in God,
    life's like wrestling with a gorilla!

    So,
    good fun either way.

    Thanks

    Richard

Hi, Richard,

You did a great job with this. In a limited amount of words, you've established two characters, given one a vocation, and expressed the strength of their relationship with the monk character giving his buddy a solid 'good night.'

Thank you for sharing,

~MP~

    Patty,

    There's only one character, Jack. The young Jack; the old Jack.

    The writer is meant to be God!!!

    The point of view of the author is from above!

    [ Should we have a laugh at this point. I sincerely hope so.]

    Thanks,

    Richard.

    You know - I thought it might be God. I have learned to be careful where I insert God here. Though there are many spiritual writers, not everyone acknowledges our Father.

    Laugh and giggle

Very interesting translation of friends past and present. WHY? because many of us take initiative thinking at the moment what is best for us. Of course, some succeed and love the choice and some regret. You did write a true deep prose poem about a sincere friend. Love Terry xoxo

    Hi Terry.

    This is an unusual piece.

    It is written by a person looking down on Jack.

    It's pretending to be written by God!

    Thanks,

    Richard
