Very nice read! I really enjoyed what you did with the narration and characters. Although I did get a little confused in some parts I still really liked it and I'll definitely bookcase it!

Strange writing just a bit. But otherwise good, hope you make more soon keep it up and carry on with whatever you feel I like sitting on my porch and enjoy getting lost in the stars too. -Echo

Wow. Immediately I could hear Raymond's voice. It reminded me a lot of The Color Purple and Slingblade. Good 'ol down home wisdom and humility. I'm very impressed. Looking forward to reading more of your stories!

'' know there be a life beyond this here porch. I see it one page at a time. For now, I'm content to be a porch man. That's what I is. ''
I KNOIW this deserved to win the contest, absoluteyl fabulous with your keeping the southern twang and injecting both humour and pathos into the story. I love it. Well done you deserved this win kindest regards Meia x

Thanks so much, Meia. Truth be told, this is my favorite story from 2019. There's something about writing 'in character' that appeals to me. So glad you enjoyed. Peace, Lee

What can I say, except that this was exceptional in every way. I love the dream like quality of the porch...how it takes a person away somewhere else. I love how you describe not just the porch, but the Granddad, Raymon...all your characters in this short tale - I feel like I actually met them. I also could've sworn I was reading an excerpt from a couple of books I read years ago, it was that good. And yep, sometimes is simply IS, and we should heed that. Gee, it'd lower the stress levels of a few folk I reckon! Great job, thanks for a wonderful read!

Thank you, Gypsymoon cat for the fine review, and prompting me to go back and read this story again. Sometimes my recollections get a little fuzzy around the edges.
Porches and books. Doesn't get much better for me.

Thanks again, you made my day.

    Peace, Lee

This IS a delightful read. The dialect IS so real and natural. It IS so warm and enjoyable. And what IS better than a good book and a porch on which to enjoy it?

This one I felt. This one, produced tears, the kind, a course, that seem to come naturally lately. The ones that come, when I read something truly special. This has been the way for me--the books. The stories that come when you least expect, or when you call them. The chance, to GO to another place. Even when ya aint been there before. Even, when you have to re-read, as I did your story. To have been places. To have seen. The porch takes it all in. It IS the place. But, as you well know, the PLACE may not be necessary, cause you can feel it wherever you go, or don't, or letting the story carry you to the next place! Cheers!

Thank you, John, for this terrific review. I agree--books are portals to places, even times, we can't get to any other way.
I'm delighted this story moved you. Thanks again. Peace, Lee

Congratulations on your win on this wonderful story! The story right away took me into the moment and the culture and the porch... When you can do that with words, you've accomplished something wonderful, congratulations again...this is a wonderful read. : )
