This lovely, sweet poem pays a strong tribute to your mother and
echoes the sentiments of so many whose mothers have died. I still want to call mine; she's been dead for 14 years.

This poem, Love Always, is a beautiful remembrance of your mother, and in turn, all our moms who invested their time in us and modeled who we might someday become. Nice.

Thanks so much for your review Bill and I'm glad you felt that this is relatable for everyone who had a mother that self sacrificed and was a great roll model for us.

This is a well rhymed, wonderfully heartfelt ode for mother's day, Kathleen.
Although it was penned to acknowledge your mom's role as a mother and a wife, it is a beautiful tribute to motherhood and moms everywhere.
Best of luck to you in the contest.
~Dean

An excellent poem. Beautiful words and sentiments.
I trust the lady in the picture is your mother, she is beautiful. I wouldn't even try to change any of this poem. So heart felt and warm. I am out of six stars.

Bless you Willie! Thank you very much for the kind review. Yes, it is a picture of my mother in her younger days. It reminds me of a Hollywood starlit picture, only she had pure morals.

I loved how you referred to her as "A true mother of pearl": a nice expression. Then you went on to describe in beautifully written stanzas your deep appreciation for your mother. It really touched me, plus reading your notes, because my own mother who raised me (my birth mother did not want me) died when I was a teenager and I feel I have missed out on so much that we could have shared.

Oh LisaMay, what a special review you gave me! Thanks for commenting on the subtitle 'a true mother of pearl' as well. I'm sorry for the loss of your birth mother and I wonder if it was just the circumstances that she couldn't handle having a baby not so much that she didn't want you per say. I agree, I would feel a certain level of loss by not having that bond but God has a way of healing hearts and fills the void with another person's love for you. So glad this poem touched you. . .

Thank you so much for your understanding reply. I did meet my birth mother and I thought initially that she was the most selfish woman I had ever met. I have since (through maturity) realised that maybe she was a product of her background and was trying to protect herself, and possibly me, by giving me over to a better upbringing.

reply by the author on 08-May-2019
Thanks for being so transparent and sharing this with me. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise and you were kept from a bad upbringing. Anyone can give birth but it takes self sacrifice to be a true loving mother. You sound like you have your act together and it truly is your birth mother's loss. Nice meeting you here on FS!

Nice to meet you too Kathleen.
My birth mother died last month. I did meet her but I never got to know her... I did get to find out I have 3 half sisters in Australia (I live in NZ). It is early days yet but I am on good terms with them.

reply by the author on 08-May-2019
I'm sorry for your loss but glad you have 3 half sisters to get to know. Maybe that will be your new extended family so take it one step at a time. : )

Next month I am going to visit a sister in Queensland for 2 weeks. She is an artist too, and we are both left handed! She's 5 years older than me.

How exciting!! I'd love to know how everything goes for you! : )

Your poem reminded me of my mother, who passed away on May 12, 1995. This is always a bad time of year for me. Your poem rhymed, made sense, and it invokes emotions within the reader. Good luck in the contest.

What a moving tribute to the most important person in your life, Kathleen! Your love for your mother pours out and tells a wonderful story (sometimes we read only in books) of a mother who stood by you and loved you I like very much stanzas four and five as they tell of not an easy life but of Christly devotion-- Mother to Daughter-- . You have the same smile as your mother, and this photo which you posted back is the one that spoke to me of love too....
A must-read for the Mother's Day.

Thank you so very much for your amazing review of my Mother's Day poem! God truly blessed me with one of the best, that is for sure! She was a Godly woman who prayed every day and was the glue that kept our family together.

This is a nice rhyming letter to your mother. It shows what a good relationship you had despite hardships. It shows love doesn't end in death
Sorry for your loss.

Good luck and keep writing,

You're as beautiful as your mother inside and out. A lovely tribute to your mom. I see she passed down godly virtues that you embraced. That is the most enduring of legacies. Superbly done with great heart.
Always my best to you and yours,
