This is a lovely tribute to dear Irene. Your words flow easily as we catch a glimpse of this remarkable woman. Few amidst life's mingling crowd know courage like she's shown, is a wonderful line. Nice to have cherished memories, I am sure that she had quite a life. Cheers, judester
Hello Jaybird: What a wonderful woman she must have been. She faced many uphill battles during her stay here on earth. Just giving birth to seven daughters is amazing, let alone all the other things she accomplished. She surely was a remarkable woman.
What a lovely tribute to Irene. My mother made it to 93 and she was a grand old lady as well. I have written several poem about her. I just posted one for Mother's Day. She is always in my mind but especially this time of year.
I enjoyed your poem Jaybird.
What a beautiful, loving and respectful poem, that shoots to heck the notion that in-laws should only be objects of derision. My husband and I each get along well with our respective in-laws, and it's a relief to know we're not the only members of an exclusive club. Your mother-in-law sounds as though she were a remarkable woman, and she's lucky to have a son-in-law who's a talented poet to memorialize her. Your poem rhymes nicely, and your love and admiration shine through each line.
