Hello Jaybird: This is a great tribute to your foster-son. This is the graduation season for many young excited teenagers.

What will the future hold for them? Oh, to be young again with a lifetime of memories to make. Congratulations to them all...Take care...Bill

I like most any poem that is a tribute, because it shows such an example of a loving bond and appreciation for that blessing. How precious is it that you love someone enough to write a poem about them! The thing I love most about this is your support of your foster-son. If he's successful, it must be because of your endless devotion and tremendous support!

The accolades are wonderful to read and I suspect to receive. The poem is a tribute to someone who passed many a test with flying colours. Your use of words is always so appropriate and lyrical. I enjoyed reading this poem.

Jaybird - this is a beautiful tribute to your foster son. You are obviously so proud of him. I'd love to know if you've shown him this poem. This line really caught my eye - A special blend of fate and guts. Great work!

It sounds like this graduate did not look like he/she'd make in through high school. But it seems a irresponsible life was changed for the best.
Keep writing

As a poem, this is perfect, Jaybird, and as a tribute to your son, this is a huge achievement. Any parent would be very proud. Congratulations to your son!

You must be so proud of one son's achievements. Children from another world are like a box of chocolate, never know what you will get until you open that box to taste the sweet favours.

What a proud moment and a remarkable, determined young man! No one can predict how much they influence the lives of others they touch. An excellent poem. Great job!

I love almost anything about baseball! What a beautiful metaphor you've used in praising one who has made the grade and is on his way. It's true, God only knows, but I suspect that now you do too!

Great tribute to your foster son! Nice analogy of baseball and life. It had a really nice flow to it, very enjoyable to read. Someone who in society eyes counted out, has risen through life to become a winner!
