Samuel Clemens would be pleased with your work, I think. To me, it's dark and lacking in joy. Too much reality for my taste. I know what the world is like. I read fiction and poetry to live a fantasy that it's so much better than I think. It's an escape from the ugliness. I write only stories with happy endings, and I prefer to read that kind. I like wearing rose-colored glasses. :)

My thought that long-ago day, and I think Thistle shared them was that intelligence is a curse to any godless man, when the fickle godlings of fame, wealth, and truth gallop off and leave him standing alone in the sunset. I cannot shake the Deist notion that all is moving in the right direction, with a brain behind it, and will end well, that no omelet is made without a few cracked shells...thanks for reading my animal crackers poem...
