I sometimes wonder what we want in our world. Nice to hear the "kitchen table" issues. Not sure where i fall anymore, not, that you may care. People I've spoken too, say they don't care bout politics anymore. What, could be more important to our world?

I think my point was, even if it was misguided back in the Kennedy years, it was still possible for people to be idealistic about leaders - seems to me that's not possible anymore.

The pride of Camelot comes and goes but pride in America stays, I think. I hope! Happy Fourth of July. Of course, in a sense Camelot died with JFK. I just t hought of that.

This is so true, it did feel like Camelot. Compared to what is happening to day it definitely WAS Camelot. . .he did instill pride. After getting some years of life under my belt though. . .Kennedy was a cheating slime bucket. . . and didn't need deep pockets because his family had already taken their fair share and then some before he ever was president. Maybe Kennedy was the beginning of the end? So sad.

Yeah - the piece, in my mind was less about JFK than about the fact that back then it was possible to believe in the mystique, whereas today it isn't.

there is no place to hide today. . .the good, the bad and the ugly. The more I read online, the uglier life seems to get .

I wonder how Camelot would be perceived in these modern times. With all the ugliness that gets exposed now, I wonder how the beloved politicians of that era would have fared. So much was kept under wraps, and voters were in much more of an Ignorance Is Bliss mode. This --as you can see by this 'review-- is a very thought-provoking 10 Word poem. I bet it will do well in the contest. Good luck to you. xo

Yeah, I think you got the point I was trying to make - JFK was no siant for sure, but it was possible to believe in grand vision and optimism back then - not so much today.

reply by Rachelle Allen on 01-Jul-2019
Nope. Cell phone pictures and videos have eliminated the commodities of image and mystique. I guess it's a two-edged sword.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Yes, the fair mindedness and optimism led by example and born long ago made Camelot and it's community what it was and still stands for in current times. Unfortunately not too many apparent kings of today can stand up in front of their countrymen with the same level of pride. That's been stamped out good and proper, or more to the point, slaughtered, torn from it's foundations, flogged into the grave, hammered shut and made a complete mockery of.
Great job. Good luck. This has much merit and leaves the reader pondering.

Thanks for the review and the sixer. I think your review makes the point I was trying to make better than my 10-worder did.

Thanks - I was trying to contrast the eras more than the leaders - glad that came through.

This is so eloquent. The picture of J. F. K evokes the word Camelot so easily and your succinct words elevate the message. Yes a long ago era for sure.

This meets the contest requirements splendidly with a correct word count. The content is well executed and provides both a powerful image and message for the reader to digest. Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.
