This is a most fascinating poem. I read it several times and find it hauntingly beautiful, with its strong and moving images and melodic rhyme pattern. I actually like everything about it. I know it will do well in the POM contest.

Him, Ivam by far not an expert with any form of poetry, but I know great poetry when I read it and it rolls of the tongue in beautiful rhythms. I will have to try a rondeau.

This is most definitely a melancholy write, reflecting the battles of life where death takes advantage of our fragility.

Best wishes with the contest.

Jimi

Anything written about WW1 is likely to be melancholy or black comedy like 'Oh What a Lovely War'. If it isn't one gets accused of being jingoistic.

Thank you so much for this six star review.

Wow, fantastic rondeau, Pantygynt. There's far too many excellent poetic lines within to mention them all. The whole piece, outstanding. Perfect matching pic to accompany it as well. I wish you the best of luck in the voting. It gets mine. Have a good one.

Ron

Wow this is a fantastic poem, and a supremely well done rondeau. And you got 37 reviews!! now 38. This is a wonderful look at the remains of war, the scarred complexion of the moon looking down on the dead and decay highlights the horror that only war can bring. Really a stunning poem, my friend.

I'm not sure if you were depressed I think you've captured the emotions beautifully in this poem. Love all the 'tion' rhyming words and the alliteration in - cold corpse-candle-light - great description. Enjoyed it,
cheers,
valda

I think it was the writing of it that caused my feelings of depression rather than the other way around. Anyway, thank you so much for this encouraging review and six star grading.

You have captured how poetry should be written. Every line of your excellent poem reads like a stand-alone poem. It's a pleasure and an education to read it.

This rondeau, Reflections on the Western Front, has the proper formatting and brings the dark and hopeless environment of that WWI battlefield to haunt all who live now. Stark.

I am truly impressed by the imagery you expressed here. I could almost smell the stagnant pools! The theme of reflections in the stagnant pools is a powerful one, a true description of the ugliness of war.

I wouldn't say depressed, pensive perhaps? This is a very well penned Rondeau, but I would expect nothing less from you. I have always thought your word choices to be powerful and unique and this is a great example of that. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

It seems this poem was possibly demanding and exhausting to write. A lot of similar rhyming (e.g., reflection, etc.). I've been struggling to understand the WWII connection. I enjoyed reading it.

I believe that a grading as low as this deserves a fuller explanation than you have afforded it. This review is a waste of time and unhelpful and contradictory.
