Hello Jaybird
Your poem is perfect with its rhyme pattern and so true of how we (middle class) feel about the trials and tribulations in life.

How true you are with--

It's off to church on Sunday,
time for prayer and thought.
It's paying all those taxes

Gert

I love your attitude that perspective is everything. Yes, we all have our daily trials, which may seem annoying at the time, yet we've also been given intelligence, optimism, love, hope, empathy, kindness and all the other emotions and abilities that make us human, and equip us to "run this human race."

You write with a warm and personal touch that make it feel as though you're speaking with someone in direct conversation. Grammatical issues that I might suggest correcting in other circumstances just read as perfectly appropriate dialect in your poem. By pointing out issues that all of us face in some form or another, your poem is very relatable. It also reads very smoothly, and your rhymes are well chosen.

I agree, life is tough. the simple way you have described daily struggles of a common man, is very real. it's inspirational too, because after all this struggle we are the ones who have to survive so that our race survives.
well done! much enjoyed reading it!

Hello Jaybird, this is such a well written poem and you have really put the nail on the daily activities that see us through life. Well rhymed and good rhythm. In second stanza 'and things we should not bought.' - 'not have bought' or the contraction 'not've bought'. Just a small point in an otherwise very good poem. Regards Dorothy

Yes, same old, same old, which we all must engage in, hoping that it's not what life's all about. You put a good spin to it, for a pleasant read.

I just had to give you a six for this outstanding poem/ sonnet. It is some thing that we all go through, from cradle to grave. Sometimes we just cant figure out just what Gods plan is all about. Well done.

Hello my friend. This is yet another of your very "human poems" that I admire so much. You always cover topics that are common to all of us in our everyday existence. God bless you. Well done, Jay. : ) Bob
