Boy if this isn't the truth! I love how you were able to rhyme all of these thoughts! My favorite is drag up in morn and fall into bed at night! Very creative!

As expected, the meter and rhyme are there as usual. I can identify with much of the poem because I myself grew up in Appalachia. I will present you with the normal five stars because I like the poem and in this case I particularly like the content. Robert

Dear jaybird,

Your closing line made me chuckle. To run this human race is daunting indeed. Hurdles are always popping up to impede and make us struggle. This flows well and expresses well want you want the reader to take away.

Cheers,

Winslow

Amen. Every day brings its shares of challenges and we have to cope, regardless.

This is a good humoured poem, well rhymed and smooth flowing.

I agree entirely with the sentiments expressed.

Blessings Julia

And a race it is, with many potholes along the way to trip us up. But it does not matter how many times we fall. We just need to pick ourselves up and get back into the race. Thanks for the pep talk!

Oh I do like this poem - and I agree. We must run the race. in the Bible there are many verses telling us to "gird" our loins and keep on fighting. God controls the times and our positions - thanks for a poem that made me think - and was encouraging.

I enjoy reading things with a touch of humor and this fits in very well. The mix of thoughts carries the reader along to the point of reality showing up in the last two lines:

For we, my friends were chosen,
to run this human race.

Now, that's a sobering thought! :-)

The author's words were engaging, creative and clear. The reader
pondered on the theme of this poem. I agree do not let anything
slow up your pace. I liked the message in this poem. The poem flows
and connects well.

This well-written piece is very moving and absolutely relatable, I presume,
for most people. You have made excellent use of specific details to convey your theme. Yes, there will always be days we'll wonder what it's all about.
I love the smooth blend of seriousness and humor. One thing: Reread
line 16.
