Marvellous! Your rhyme and beat keep it rolling along like the cadence of a cyclist or a runner's heartbeat (an Olympic one). Those games were very successful for the host nation; as is often the case the national sportsmen and women rise to the occasion when performing in front of a home crowd.

This is written in perfect meter and rhyming couplets. It's a perky tale ending with a glorious victory for Olde England at the 2012 Olympic games. I enjoyed reading it very much!

In my opinion, another evenly smooth rhyming verse by this prolific, rhyming poet - warmly presented, no imagery required. The verse illustrates the narrative perfectly...

very nice!
I don't remember that, but from your enthusiastic poem, they sound pretty wonderful. I do vaguely remember the 1972 Olympics in Munich when the terrorists killed members of the Israeli team. A terrible thing.
But this is an uplifting poem about the jolly olde English team winning the gold. Enjoyable.

This look back at the 2012 Olympics praises England for her organisation of the games. It was as I remember a very happy and successful olympiad. And next year it all happens again. Let's hope it will prove as trouble free.

Your rhyme and rhythm present us with a peaceful image of the 2012 Olympics. If one is a follower of the rings, the poem brings up images of the crowds and the participants.

I remember that year of the Olympics, Jay. Your poem is a great reminder of the true spirit of those games. Good job with the rhymes, the smooth flow, and the message. Thanks for sharing. Jan

And yes they did, they put on a wonderful games (I was barracking for Australia of course) but take nothing away from the way it was run and displayed to the world, the second line of the first stanza-"and this the did, should it be -and this they did, an excellent read and poem****kahpot

Hard to believe those Games were seven years ago and we're only a year from the next Olympiad. The Speaker's pride in his country really comes through.
Some key errors though: line 2: This THEY did
Stanza 3: No terrorism reared ITS head.
