As brave as you are, Sasha, I'm sorry but I find no humor in the thought of death-from anyone. While working on grammar, a job long overdue, I searched you down for good writing examples. Inside, I get an example of bravery. I will miss your relationship.

Thanks for the compliment. Sorry, my spelling and grammar is the worst of all writers on FS. I don't know but my spell/check is never working and I miss all the spags.

    Grammar is my weakness, Sasha.

"belabor" (I have no intention of belaboring the point that your health sucks.) (LOL)

also missing the "e" on "determin(e) what is..." (And momma, that ain't all that's missing... You are amazing, my friend. Your strength of mind is second-to-none.)

Parkinso(n)'s d(i)sease

"hyst(ere)ctomy"

"underwent" - one word

"real(l)y isn't much..."

"tear-stained" No worries, Val -- I'd have to cry with my laptop upside down. Tried it. Hard to type like that... (*snort, giggle*)

"humor"

I love you, you know. You have had a huge influence on my outlook, as evidenced by the change in my chosen writing topics, and how much of my private life I have revealed. You rock, my friend. Now fight this crap. If anyone can, it's you!!!

Always your friend, though far away -- you are in my thoughts often.

I love that you share your personal life more, I know that was a major problem for you. I obviously do not have a problem yapping about my life.

reply by Ideasaregems-Dawn on 14-Aug-2019
:) I admire your courage in putting it all out there, Sasha. In many other ways too you are an inspiration--seriously. Much love. XXOO

You have quite a history here, Sasha, but I believe you are right about keeping a sense of humor about it. Someone said to me while I was lamenting a setback, ' You can get bitter or better." Not always easy, but better is better.

My cousin has it and all I know of it is that it causes him to shake more each year, and his desire to eat is going...he lost 30 pounds in three weeks, which I could afford to do, but since I had cancer I never lost my hair and any weight, so I guess the rules don't apply to me. Don't plan your funeral yet, as I did, because, God changes the rules to see if we are paying attention

I lost a lot of weight these past few months one of the major signs of the Parkinson's. I went from 172 own to 117. My hands and arms haven't started shaking much but my feet and lower legs keep me up most of the night from shaking. It is extremely annoying.

A friend swears dill pickle juice helps. I am on pills for the RLS

reply by the author on 13-Aug-2019
Yes, this is not the way to lose weight... I've gone fro 715 pounds down to 117 in less than a month. I don't have the shakes in my hands but do have them in my feet... very annoying.

This isn't a review, obviously... but just to say my mum had Parkinson's Disease for a long time. The newer medication works a lot better than the stuff she had when she was first diagnosed. The main advice I have is keep your sense of humour (which you have), and when you walk, try for good posture. That helped her a lot at one point. Mum did crosswords and they also helped a lot. They kept her synapses firing:-) If you're not into crosswords, keep writing, or do any activities that keep your mind active.

I agree it is important to keep my synapses firing. I'm doing alright with the Parkinson's diagnosis and am doing my best not to let it get me down. At least now I know why was falling so much last year and tripping with every other step I took. It has been so hot this past month that I stay inside most of the day and don't walk that much any more.

Hi Sasha,

this is the most shameless post I've ever read on fanstory to garner attention and sympathy! I mean to actually go out and contract these things just so can write a post about them and reap all the lovely site rewards is beyond belief!

Honestly, the lengths some writers will go to. I know actors go all method but a writer - truly deplorable!

Right, I'm off to catch some Hemorrhoids or maybe the flu. that'll show you!

I have only three words to say to you and you cn make of them what you will -

I AM GROOT.

love G

Good morning, Sasha

Oh, wow. I didn't expect this. I'm at a loss for words. Based on your post, you'll never go down without one hell of a fight.

My father passed from Parkinson's at age 89. He had it for three years. If you wish I'll tell you what he went through to the best of my ability.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

    Good morning, Sasha

I really feel bad having to tell you this, but I respect and understand your need to know what's ahead.
    This is what I remember.

Over the three years there was a gradual then an increasing decline in my Father's strength, coordination, balance and appetite.

During the first year you realized he wasn't the same father you knew, but at the beginning of the year he still could feed, dress and clean himself and had decent mobility, but by the end of the year, each task became more difficult to the point he required some assistance .

In his second year the decline was blatantly obvious. He needed help to eat, dress, shower and clean himself.

By the beginning of the third year he needed a walker and had to be fed, cleaned and dressed by my mother. The decline was so rapid we hand to place him in a nursing home for the remainder of his life.

The one thing my father had that complicated his condition was he was suffering from dementia.

    I hope this helps, Sasha.

    Take care and stay safe,

    Ray

Well, this is a dark little tale! You tell it very well, and I am super impressed with your glorious take on a usually morose subject. Just check your spelling. There are a couple typos (inquiring). It's such a strong piece of writing so those little details will really help!

The six is for your courage in sharing this news with us. this site is quite informative about parkinsons. https://www.parkinsons.ie/aboutparkinsons_general

At least now you know why you keep falling over and why your healing process is not what is used to be.

I don't blame you for not wanting to go down the chemo route again. It is horrible, just watched my partner go through it. All I can say is take pleasure in the littlest of things and be kind to yourself.

Gentle hugs

Freda
