This is a beautiful tribute and a great dedication to a memory of love. I am glad you came back to write. Writing helps to get over your loss. At FS you meet a lot of great writers as you must already know. I too came back after some illness kept me away. Wish you the very best.
Sylvia

Please accept my apologies for not responding in a mannerly fashion to your kind words and for taking the time to read my flash fiction. It's been far more difficult to cope with my loss than I could ever imagined and I haven't been able to move forward with my life very well. I do believe my faith will lead me through this, but it will take time. Thank you again Sylvia...Wishing you the best! Carol

My sincere apologies for taking so long to respond to your kind review and wishes. I thought I could Begin Again but it appears it will take me longer to pull myself together. I have weathered many terrible storms in my lifetime but this one has really shaken my soul. I have faith that I will find the light at the end of the tunnel...just not as quickly as I thought. He was and will always be My Love...My Life. Thank you again for sharing with me. Carol

These few words express the ultimate turning point in our lives and the fact that our love will never change regardless that I now travel on alone. I know how much he loved me and wanted me to pursue my passions again and I truly will try to honor him. Thank you so much for commenting. I truly appreciate it. Carol

This is sad, so sad. The one that you've loved that seems like forever is slipping away and their is nothing that you can do about it. Life was never meant to be traveled alone and somehow, you must soldier on. Great feelings and emotions are infused into this well written work. May the Lord give you comfort and peace in your time of mourning. Thanks for sharing this very personal event with us. Well done!

In 80 words you eloquently poured out the last moment of a loved one's last breath, so aptly titled the end of our story.
Your notes brought it all home on a personal level. I am sorry for your loss. Welcome back to writing. Your husband is helping to push your pen from another realm. Blessings.

Hi Cookie...Mike and I were together as friends and then a couple for 40 years. He was my life and it will be difficult to move forward but I will because it is what he would want. I truly appreciate your kind words and the review. Thank you! - Carol

This recounts the ultimate sad event when a partner dies... it was your last story, but now you have new beginnings again following the path he would be pleased to see you take: your brave new world as a writer again. You have written this well - I hope to see more from your hand.

Thank you for your kind words. I never thought it would be such a struggle to put words down on paper again but I know it is what he would want and so I will give it my best effort. Slowly at first but definitely forward. Thank you again. I appreciate your thoughts. - Carol

This is a very romantic and sad story, but quite well written. I found it easy to read, and easy to imagine being there. You did a very nice job. Cheryl

Lovely tribute and a brave posting in the circumstances.
I realise the suggestions for editing I make would change the word count of the story... so in fairness I'll also suggest three cuts (below) to conserve the integrity of the count.
. His skin feverish.
. His skin was feverish.

alright
all right (twice)

his frail arms were covered with dark purple bruises.
his frail arms bore dark purple bruises. (saves 2)

It's going to be all right."
It'll be all right."

Thank you for your kind reply. The "It's going to be alright" came from a Kenny Chesney song and a wall plaque i have, but I understand the correct spelling and have made the changes. I appreciate you taking the time to make helpful suggestions...often my head is still water-logged. Thanks again!

This eighty word story carries a volume of images and words with it. Any reader can imagine a plot like this the succinct way that you wrote this piece. Well done.
