Like the poem and its story. Although it could be on the sorrowful side too. Drunken driver, car crash, and then a couple and their funerals (like a true story line). I bet you shed a few tears when you wrote this....I had deep thoughts when I read it.

That's so sad. I couldn't decide whether they were in the car together or if they crashed into each other. And I hope they're not condemned to be together in death, one with someone she doesn't want and one with someone who doesn't want him.

I really like the poem and didn't need your story synopsis at the end to make understandable or feel real. That part actually spoiled it a little for me. . .that you should have so little faith in your writing, you felt a need to explain. Not so my friend. Even if it did, writing should be for your own expression and no one elses. No synopsis needed. :)

I added the synopsis because some of the reviews I received did not pick up on the storyline. It had nothing to do with my belief in my writing abilities. Appreciate the review. Yours actually makes this an All-Time Best for me. Confidentially, there have been many others as well.

Well done Brett. I enjoyed the folksy kind of story telling that your poem had to offer. The descriptions you put in your piece about the young couple the man's icy blue eyes and the woman's raven black hair make your poem sound very realistic and believable . Great job with this poem.

It is a dark picture and a dark poem which tells a horrific tale about two star-crossed lovers, together in death as they could not be together in life. The mood is consistent throughout the poem. Thanks for sharing.

A sad love story in the beginning when she leaves. They end up at the same time and in the same place. Now all they have is time to spend eternity together, in the swamp

Your added author's notes are very good at describing scenario of story in the poem. I love poems that tell stories. I don't like poems that are just words. You made a profound statement in the body of the poem : "Love only hurts when it's real." I like that one. You did an excellent job telling the story. Wish you good luck in the contest. Robert

From our Shakespearean knowledge of tragic love is brought out in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. And the most loving of affairs is never realised in life, because of premature death, and one wonders why not in eternity? Beautifully written this scenario of tragedy. Well done Brett a wonderfully written saga of love's folly, well done, blessings, Roy

A little slice of darkness is always enjoyed by this reviewer friend. Trapped for all eternity with a lover who just broke your heart in the real world. There would be enough fighting to frighten all the creatures of the night away I reckon : )) Great visuals offered up here, good luck!

very cool poem! i love the macabre aspect to in and the picture fits it excellently. I like that you also put an explanation at the end defining the story. Such a tragedy though for both lives to be lost. :) xoxo
