Yep, "some knots may never uncurl" is not only very true, but a highly poetic way to say what those words are really saying. I read this poem a while back, but didn't get to writing the review. It's a provocative poem, and I hope the ones who need the sage advice read it!

This is so sad. There are probably lots of sons and daughters who regret having gotten fed up and left home. Then it's too late for them to make amends. You describe very well the "issues" the daughter has with her mother. To me, things work both ways. Did Mom ever reach out to try to reconnect with her daughter. Daughter was headstrong, but she learned a sad lesson. Excellent thought in this, and a warning not to let that anger take over. Excellent rhyme and flow. judi

Thanks, Judi. It's really intriguing sometimes to see the responses you get to a post. It allows you to see whole different sides to people. Wow.

When I left I certainly made sure my parents couldn't get a hold of me other than my email. They went from October to April, without my phone number because I just wouldn't give it to them. Things are much better now. I think sometimes we all need the space, however, we have to know when to go back for sure. Great job.

Writing consists of archetypal images. Basically, everything has been felt, said and written about before. So if we have similar concepts or wording as someone else, chances are, there was some before any of us who wrote similar about concepts with similar words. I've found that I have written similar stuff to someone else. In your poem here you will draw the reader in to be comforted to read of the anguish and regret expressed. Some may even heal. Thank you.

This is so sad yet a great reminder that we need to watch our words, especially around the ones we hold dearest. We never know when those words might be our last.

The third stanza is extremely touching. "She fought like a mom," really evokes the image of caring and concern. She was fighting for the best for her girl.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom in such a beautiful way.

Good Monday morning to you Robyn, I enjoyed that poem quite a bit. I loved the flow and rhymes, but also the subject matter and word choices were good as well. It amazes me how some people can harbor anger and in some instances they don't even know why, and when they finally realize they don't even know why they're angry often times it's too late.

Great job!

Wow -- that's a helluva bummer of a write, Robyn -- but, yeah, how many times have we stormed out and had pride hold us back from returning...even via phone. A wonderful offering that stands, hopefully, as a warning to everyone not to let it happen in their own relationships! ;) Thanx! ;) Yvette
P.S. Know I'm running way behind but midterms and else have been eating up the time.... plus, the Fall 'blahs' have taken hold so, I'm trying to spend more time outside! ;) :) Take care! ;)

You know, you've brought tears to my eyes with this heartbreaking poem. Yes. mothers and daughters are often at loggerheads. Well, I should know. But mine didn't love me. She wasn't my real mother either. In your sad poem they did love each other, and they were real mother and daughter. It's so beautifully written. Ulla xxx ps, you touched a raw nerve

OMG - this one is very powerful. In a way I'm glad I didn't have daughters because the mother/daughter relationship is very complex. I take that back. All parent/children relationships are complex. A good one, Robyn. Hugs, Lou
