Gone
I made a number of big decisions in that first year...it would have been nice to be able to postpone them. I seem to have done well enough on the really important things, not so on the trivial...this short poem has a lot of real life punch...excellent.

Hi Red. Thank you for reading this short piece. Even though Robert's death was expected, grief is something we work through.
As they say--it's a process, isn't it? This past year I was "all over the block" and it's a good thing I just didn't make any big decisions. Marilyn

Marilyn, I am not a mother, but I have a mother. I get your concern. It is just like a mother to worry about her child. Sometimes she does not feel relief until she sees him or her walks in the front door. Even then, sometimes the mother still worries.

In this well-constructed nonet, you presented your undying mother's love.

Hi Nan. You really went way back to this poem. Thank you for that. Billy is unique and I always miss him if I don't see him for long periods of time. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn. Because I am on the site so little these days, I miss a lot of postings. Thus, I peruse the portfolio of my fans and review a poem or two that I missed (time permitted, of course). This poem stood out for me because it reminds me of my mother.

I hope you are having a great weekend, Marilyn.

A Second Son
Semper fi Steve. Your lucky to have hauled in a Marine for a son-in-law. I know my wife is lucky. LOL. Our motto used to be, 'If you hit it and it doesn't move, obviously you didn't hit it hard enough.'
Does he do work out of state?????? LOL.

Hi Roy. Thank you for your great review. Both my son and my son-in-law were in the Marines. Steve's a great guy (as is my son, but he lives across the state). Marilyn

Marilyn, This is a very well written poem about your son-in-law Steve. It was really nice for him to shovel the snow for you. It seems you got a lot of snow there too. love, Teri

Hi Teri. Luckily here in central Wisconsin since I've moved to this state, the snow isn't too bad at all. Much worse, deeper and more frequent when I lived in Johnson City, TN. I believe you live in TN, too. A very nice state. Thank you for your review of my poem about Steve. Marilyn

I am glad that you have a good relationship with your son-in-law. My son-in-law was like my own son. Unfortunately he passed away in 2014. Your poem is a great tribute to your "second son" Evi

Hi Valda. Thank you for your nice review. This is about the only photo I have of my paternal grandmother and I've been hoping to write a little something about her for a long time. This contest was perfect to do that. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn; thank you for sharing this joyous poem. Your grandson, Luke certainly looks happy as he flies through the air. The beginning of summer is such a happy time for kids.

Hi Patty. Thank you for your review. We had a great day at the park. His brother was off somewhere else. All the kids love it there. They meet up with their school buddies. It's a gorgeous family park. Marilyn

I'm so sorry about your loss, Marilyn. Your eulogy is very touching. I find it harder to come to terms with the passing of a close friend or relative when they die so young. I'm sure you do, too.

That's a very fine tribute to your dad, wonderfully written. From your notes, I think that the format is correct. The picture goes along very nicely. Evi
