Dear Mystery Writer,

I can see this performed as stand-up. With the perfect timing and inflections, this could be quite a hoot. I sure hope this is not real, though. Yikes. And yiiiikkkkkes. I am not a foodie. In any sense. So all these unique foods make me ill. Blech.

Thanks for the smile and good luck!

As a longer version, and using French foods, it has been performed as a monologue. In the end, the husband goes to cooking lessons, discovers he likes it, and takes over all the cooking. lol

This is pretty funny and quite good. The names of some of the dishes and the finished product would probably turn me away also with laughter. I like this jaunt through Italian cooking that you've presented here. Great job and well done!

Thanks very much for taking the time to read my story. Some recipes are very complicated - too complicated in some cases. :)

It's funny how the name of a dish can put us right off it no matter how delicious it might be! I enjoyed your journey through your cookery experiments and it sounds like you put a lot of thought into what you served Quentin, I hope he appreciated you. I enjoyed your write very much, love Dolly x

I feel Quentin would get along with my husband. Mind, I've long ago stopped fancifying and now I cook what I know. All good. This piece is bright and funny, and I'd happily read a book of such pieces.

Thanks very much for the lovely review. My husband does nearly all our cooking now. I love it but I do wash up the pots and pans for him. lol

Well written with great humour. As an Australian who started her life in England I loved the description of some of the old British standards, "Toad in the Hole", "Spotted Dick," took me back to my childhood. I too have a shelf full of various cook books, can't remember the last time I used one so your story resonated with me. Good luck with the contest.

Thanks very much for the kind words. My husband does nearly all the cooking, bless him, but he mostly googles any recipes he wants.

LOL! Interesting to say the least. I wouldn't want to see or smell any of those Italian dishes. Must be peasant dishes, made with what you could find in the field.

I once had an entire bookshelf filled with cookbooks. After twenty years, i realized I only ever used four of them, so the rest went to other excited cooks at a garage sale, while I had space for knick knacks. I like knick knacks... they don't require cooking. :)

I'm with you - although knick knacks require dusting so most of mine are now where the unwanted cookbooks are. lol Thanks for reading.

Writer, I am so right there with you on the bangers and mash, unless you could pop out a nice dish of haggis and mash. A very fun read and excellent little tale. Thanks for sharing and write on and write often.

This interesting story certainly meets the contest requirements. I was glad you didn't slaughter your pet sheep. I am guessing that Quentin isn't your husband's real name. Cooking always seemed like a great hobby to me because people love sharing the proceeds (except for Quentin.) Good luck in the contest.

Your Italian Frenzy looks to me to have turned out fine! I had a good laugh at all the different meals you made that Quentin renamed! I'm not sure I would have been able to eat them either. I enjoyed your story and it shows how much time and effort you put into it. Good luck with the contest!
