Beautifully written, Ulla. I'm looking forward to reading from the beginning, and if this chapter is anything to go by, I know I'll enjoy every chapter. Well done, and good luck in the the 'Book of the month!'

Oh this is so sad. So sad. But your account is written sensitively and handled beautifully. Poor Lorenzo. I see now why you are so keen to tell the story. I am so engaged. Big hugs, Giddy :-)

I enjoyed this chapter about the young man receiving the shock that the woman was dead on the floor when he arrived. Looking forward to the next chapter to see what happens in the man's future. Thanks for sharing this well written chapter in your book.

A strong chapter. You really created an emotional scene here and more importantly, at the end, you create an emotional connection between Lorenzo and Martha, as she is left to care for him after this terrible emotional shock. I think you did a great job with a lot of detailed writing in that scene where Lorenzo discovers Denise's body. He loses feeling in his legs, he is rendered immobile, and I think this is a great metaphor for grief. The dark surrounding also complete the scene and feeling of grief. It's a little light on dialogue, but you have set up what could be a great chapter between Lorenzo and Martha that should reveal their beginning relationship. estory

Wow, estory, this is a heck of a review and I so appreciate it. I'm so very pleased. I love to write this story of my great grandfather. As you say, now on the Martha and Lorenzo. Thank you so much again. Ulla :))

-This is a very good chapter, Ulla,
but so sad to have lost Denise.
-She had such a positive, bubbly
personality, and was really into
going to the ball with Lorenzo and Martha.
-She will be missed.
-Lorenzo handles the situation well
even though sadness overtook him.
-He did what needed to be done, and
finally realized he needed to get help;
he couldn't do this alone.
-Mr. Hopkins is very kind, but also
adds a little bit of humor as Lorenzo
keeps calling him "Sir!"
-He takes care of the situation by mentioning
some food and drink for Lorenzo to his wife
while he goes to get the doctor.
-Before leaving, he makes sure that Martha will
take care of Lorenzo while he is gone.
-Based on the description at the end, I
think he figured it might be tough for
both Lorenzo and Martha.
-Good job, my friend, now I guess we move forward.

Wow, Pam this is a lovely and thorough review. I'm so pleased and for the lovely stars. It is sad that Denise is no more, but she'd played her role in life. Now it's time to move forward. Of course there's the funeral, and the ball to contend with. Thank you so much, again. Ullaxx

This is sad, so very sad and unfortunate. Twice the lad has had to face death of dear loved ones. I don't think that the news that Martha is going to tell him will be pleasant either. Yes Ulla, I'm still enjoying this. I like how you've wrote this with all of the twists and turns incorporated into it. Thanks for sharing your well written work. I eagerly await the next installment of this. Well done!

Hello Ulla. The events surrounding Lorenzo finding Denise is a sad turn of the story. It was a surprise. The dialogue you wrote describing Lorenzo's physical and emotional state is excellent. You describe the physical feelings and reactions as well as the emotional despair that passed through him. That is certainly an excellent piece of the writing.

To me the action of going to the Hopkins house refocused the relationship between Martha and Lorenzo as well. Very well done. Robert

The story is moving forward quite well. What a shock to find his friend Denise lifeless on the floor. The shock most probably made him fall unconscious which explains how he felt and looked. It was good of Mr. Hopkins who grasped the situation to look for the doctor.
Well done.
Sylvia
