It seems so many Americans are obsessed with baseball. It's good to be passionate about something. Just to make it easier to reach 150 characters lol - there needs to be a blank line after "What the hell!" today. I hope your team does well in the new season - whenever that is. :)

Hi David
I cannot pretend to know anything about the sport that you follow, but I can relate to the passion one can have about their favourite team. I'm from England so my preferred game id football. The passion I feel against the mighty reds (Liverpool fc) is as strong as yours. I hope your teams fortunes are fulfilled in next seasons games.
Love the passion in this write.

Man oh man - you're really possessed - but I remember those exciting games on radio. In school, the teacher would sometimes turn on the radio so we could hear the last innings of the world series. Sorry I liked the Dodgers.

Thanks for the review. I'm better now, therapy can be great. No need to be sorry about liking the Dodgers. Thanks again for your kind words. Take care and go well.

When I say damn Yankees I think of my mother who through my riches in the garbage. I had at least one Tops card for every player from 52 to 57. I had rookie cards for Mantel, Maris, and Ford. When I went to Nam my mother decided my childhood was over so she trashed the cards.
Good story.

My heart bleeds for you. My Yankee cards went to a girl 4 years older than me. I thought it would make her like me. It didn't. I was with the 101st. in Vietnam. Welcome home. Thanks for the review and your kind words. Go well.

Hey David, nice narrative all the way through. You have a pleasant tongue in cheek style. I live in Houston and gotta admit I gloated while watching Altuve smack that dinger. But it was a close series and could've gone either way. Anyway nice writing. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks Jack, I appreciate your kind words. The Astros were just a better team in that series (and probably a better team in general). It was a good series. I'll trade you Aaron Judge for 10 at bats from Altuve. He's one hell of a good ball player. Again thanks for the review. Take care and go well. And I do (now) honestly want the Astros to win the WS.

This story, Damn Yankees, is one that tickles me. My father-in-law was a Tigers fan at this same degree and knew every player who ever played and where all the current players came from as well. Baseball fans drink deeply from that game.

I'm not terribly aware of American baseball, although we play baseball here, cricket is by far the preferred summer sport. Your preferred sports are a little insular. But we still know the famous one, probably because of films. But I'm not aufait with modern ones. But I do understand being a smitten fan, I have been my football side's fan since 1951, they have historically won more premierships than any other footy team here. So well done, good work, blessings, Roy

Well, I know all of the Yankee baseball greats you mentioned, David. You wrote a great story of love for your team. I enjoyed reading it. However, I enjoyed the Astros winning. The Yanks will have another chance next year. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

I know the pain, but I can't bring myself to empathize. I'm a life-long Red Sox fan. I know I'm perverted, but I can't bring myself to mourn any Yankee loss. Perhaps you understand the Red Sox/Yankee rivalry. But being from Texas, you may have never experienced it.

As a baseball fan, I understand your disappointment. As a Red Sox fan, I can't shed a tear.

No hard feelings?

Peace, Lee

Oh, what an ode to a baseball fan! As a NL fan, I can't say I'm disappointed the Yankees finally lost. They've won more than their fair share, but you're right, they're also the team of which baseball legends are made. Now you learn what the rest of the league knows year in and year out. There's always next season.
