Good luck weening yourself off and switching meds. Messing meds up can definitely be a scary thing. I'm glad you have someone watching out for you. I know it might feel overbearing but just focus on the positives my dear. You have friends that care and that's not something everyone has. There are a bunch of meds you can't just stop taking. I'm glad that they are doing it the right way and I hope you find sleep.

Weening off of Lexotan will take about three weeks. So far I am doing fine and hope the new medication is less dangerous for me to take. Dr. Fupen is a good doctor and understands the need to get OFF of lexotan is important.

Bless you Sasha. I pray that the Lord will help you to get some relief from this. It's good to have good people that care about you. You sound like a strong and independent woman who doesn't want to have a fuss made over. You also would like to just take care of yourself. Thanks for sharing this personal and well written work with us. Well done!

Hello dear friend. Long time between psts and answering too. You are scaring me with the excess pill taking and I am somewhat happy to hear you say another person will be helping in that case.

I do hope you have not gotten any worse than you were a month or so ago. God bless you, Val. XX Bob

I wwnt to the doctor's tocay and was told I definitely have to get off the Lexotan. I need to take a new medication and also get a better blood pressure medication. This will probably take about three weeks to get off the Lexotan and start with the new sleep medication. Melatonan is not right for me so the new medication will be less addictive (actually non-addictive) and better for me. No I am not worse. I just needed to get this all straightened out.

Hi Val. Just for your info. I have been taking Tylenol # four (with codeine) for the past 12 years. I suffer with Peripheral Neuropathy and muscle cramps but I sleep fine. Bless you. Bob

I am alergic to codine... I halucinate when I take it.

I saw the doctor this moring and he agrees I need to get off the Lexotan and have it replaced with something non adictive and also get a stronger blood pressure medication apparently my BP is too high. Seems it was a good idea to have him go over what I should and should not be taking.

There was no blue asterisk, sooo...

With that much sleep medication in your system, no wonder you have short term memory loss. You're walking around in a fog. Yes, getting off the drug is hard, but you're stubborn enough to do it, Sasha. Hang in there.

Hugs

:) Nancy

Yes it would be hard to have someone taking over the running of ones life, but having breakfast and dinner brought would be a real plus. =] I'm sorry you have problems sleeping. I do too and it 's the pits. I hope something else will help once your off the Lexotan.

I feel with you Sasha! Doctors put you on addictive meds and then you are expected to wean yourself off. If it didn't hurt for ten years, why trifle with it now? Just take care of yourself and be happy girl! Drew ??

Lexotan is causing my current problem with my body not processing the nutrients when I eat. I've lost 60 pounds, don't sleep and am grumpy all the time. I really need to get off lexotan and am hoping melatonan will be a good change and replacement for Lexotan.

Thanks for he information, it is good to know how melatonin affects other people. I was actually given Ambien for both depression and inability to sleep. My mother was taking the same thing and had stroke and died from it.

I saw my doctor today and he agrees, I have to get off Lexotan but does not recommend Melatonan. He prescribed a different medication that is supposed to be non-adictive and a good replacement for Lexotan. I'll keep you posted on how it works.

reply by Rikki66 on 05-Nov-2019
Glad the doctor has a medication he thinks will work, just want you to have sweet dreams.

YOu got this girl. You got this. With all you have been through and are going through, you got this. I hate taking pills but you know Medicare will sanction addicting medication and not pay for that which is not. Go figure.

You are right they will not cover these pills either, even if a doctor recommends it.

I know many people who take melatonin. When I was going through chemo, my doctor told me to take it. My husband takes it for his sleep disorder.

No having a bowel movement doesn't mean my body is processing the nutrients, it is just a bowel movement. (Not having....)
