Yeah..... I could get really crude about things only going in and not out, but I won't go there... ;) ;) A one-of-a-kind Bill Schott original offering for the contest -- good luck, sir!! ;) Yvette

Every time I start to think that just maybe you are normal after all, you go and pull one of these out of your hat or some place decidedly south of your head and you proceed to turn my world upside down. This forces me to proclaim once again, that you are some special kind of nut. LOL.

Now that's an unusual metaphor or definition! Do you think that maybe the who universe is one giant body and we're like miniscule, microscopic whovillians? Best wishes in the contest!

I?m hoping that sphincter is the exit from here and not from somewhere else.

What a descriptive poem with so few syllables too. I've heard depression often described this way. That it's a black hole that pulls you in so deep you feel like you'll never get out. A horrifying thought. Your poem is well-written, very descriptive. Good luck with your contest.

Wonderful use of eight syllables! I always find these the hardest poems to write, yet also find them fun and challenging. This black holes amaze me and so does your poem. Your use of the word sphincter is brilliant. The image is gorgeous.

You have REALLY made excellent use of the eight syllables you were allowed for this contest. I have been hearing about black holes on the news very recently. Such a mystery!

Are we falling into it Bill or are we being spewed out of it? I would have thought black holes are something we fall into and this is the scary part of your write, good luck with the contest, love Dolly x

I guess no one likes sphincter as a comparison for a black hole.

Bill,

You absolutely included a scientific fact into your contest entry.

Your use of sphincter is most descriptive.

Best wishes in the voting.

Interesting concept here, Bill. I usually think of a sphincter as an aperture that spews outward. Your sphincter, or black hole, acts more like a sucker. I wonder where it deposits its waste?
Could it be that our universe is on the wrong side of the cosmic toilet?

Best of luck, Bill.

Peace, Lee

I'd like to think that we're on the inside and this black hole is an orifice going out. Sphincters, just in passing, have no thrust or pull. They are retracting barriers.

reply by humpwhistle on 29-Nov-2019
Ah, but black holes are notorious for their gravitational pull. Perhaps black holes and sphincters can't be compared?

reply by the author on 29-Nov-2019
Both holes where the sun don't shine.
