You certainly have had an eventful few days. It might be that the stress that the storm has caused is preventing te little blue pill from doing its job - you've kind of been on overload the last few days. Once things settle a bit, it might begin to help you sleep without the other once again. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

I think it is unlikely I will ever not have to take at least one Lexotan to be able to sleep.

Hi Sasha! Love your story here! It was great getting to know more about you by reading this. It was also good to chuckle at your directness and humor. You writing is engaging, funny, matter-of-fact, and entertaining! In one word, it's "Awesome!" Please don't step on cockroaches before putting that piece of paper down, especially if you're not wearing shoes or slippers! Thank you so much for this. We enjoyed your story and are honored that such a fine writer like yourself has been following and supporting our novel, "Love Long Distance." A BIG "SALUTE!" God Bless.
Respectfully with Admiration,
Bill & Cathy

I really relate to this: I suffer from short-term memory loss. Of course forgetting the date I moved here probably falls into the long-term memory loss category but whatever the reason, I often forget the when of when I moved here. I always love reading about your life!

I'm back with my red pen, so to speak. I like your story/ramble. I have posted some corrections below, resisting the urge to mention that twice-used "plastic" since, with great restraint, I'm "dealing with it" as you requested.

*********************************************************
computer sills -- Did you mean "skills"?

the horrific rain-storm -- rainstorm -- one word

I forgot to mention in the days that followed it, all of Mazatlan closed
down.
Add "that" so it doesn't read as though you forgot in the days that
followed rather than the town shut down.
Also use "shut down" because you have "closed" in the following
sentence; omit "it".
Suggest: I forgot to mention that, in the days that followed, all of
Mazatlan shut down.

why I had more than fifty-feet of thick,
You don't need the hyphen

I step on it immediately after dropping it; the pad of paper, not the
cockroach.
I think that semi should be just a comma -- or a dash might even be
better.

Thanks for catching the spags. I appreciate it. I have made the corrections but for some reason they don't show up as corrected.

reply by shaffer40 on 06-Dec-2019
I hope they'll appear at some point. It can be frustrating working on the site sometimes.

reply by the author on 07-Dec-2019
Yes, I meant skills. I don't know why, but I've made the corrections and they don't show up even when I click save.

reply by shaffer40 on 07-Dec-2019
Must be some glitch in the F.S. site. I get so frustrated when things like that don't work. I take it you selected "Edit."

reply by the author on 07-Dec-2019
Thanks. I find it frustrating too.

Your stories always please and amuse me, even when they're about the PAT and the rain and cockroaches! I don't have a drier either, though we live in a cool temperate zone. I don't iron though! I wear my cottons crumpled. As you say; deal with it! You are properly blessed with your friends and with a sense of humour. Long may you keep both, and share them with us.

Honestly, I don't iron but you want, or need to, iron I'd say go for it. Who cares what others think. And I can barely remember what I did yesterday so I never even noticed the year of moving always changed. I quietly laughed to myself. I'm glad your friends are keeping you straightened out. Love you dear.

My dear Sasha, I can fully relate to the memory loss issues. I've got some too--not too extreme, but impacting! Sorry you're experiencing that. As usual, your well-paced ramble is entertaining with it's witty acceptance of life's foibles.

As requested, here is some help with SPAG:

*

I forgot to mention(,) in the days that followed it, all of Mazatlan closed down.

*Stores closed, people stayed home from work(,) and I can only assume it was to clean up the mess the storm caused.

*
Some of you may recall that I have a backyard that is behind the door located in my shower.

Suggest trimming and tightening to:

Some of you may recall I have a backyard behind the door located in my shower.

*
Calling it a backyard is a stretch since it('s) no bigger than a four-by-five foot

* The day it rained(,) I worried about all the stuff that was out there.

* At the same time(<) Agustin gave her a bad time about not helping him.

*his made Veronica giggle and(,) fortunately(,) no fights broke out.

* The pad of paper is heavy enough to do the necessary damage(,) especially if I step on it immediately after dropping it; the pad of paper, not the cockroach.

*It does to me(,) and I guess that is all that really matters.

Warm Hugs,
rd

"...I suffer from short-term memory (loss)." You need that word because everyone has a short term memory.
I'm sorry your tings were damaged by the rains--glad the damage doesn't seem too severe. ??

How were you so lucky to find help like Veronica and Agustin? They sound like angels.
What tickled me the most about your post today is the small pad of papers that you use for cockroaches. I can just see you dropping the pad on cockroaches and stepping on it. I laugh because I do pretty much the same thing although I don't have a particular notepad set aside for the job. I had to have something to separate my shoe from that bug.
Sorry you lost some stuff to the storm, but I'm glad that you had someone to help you clean it up.
Til next time, take care.
