Very well done ... I have read a lot about Johnson's trial and found this posting very well done ....some good writing here. Our now president is no way a good president, he is a self centered blowhard lacking any leadership abilities. I would call him a jerk but that would an insult to all the other jerks in our country. Oh in passing H. Clinton was no great choice either.
Ok... all that aside... you have a very readable style and I enjoy your posting. Again good work.

I thought it would be interesting to take a look at Johnson's impeachment after what we've been through with Trump's. I hope this is not what future presidents can expect. Thanks for your great review and the lovely six stars. judi

This is very interesting. If I learned this in school, I had completely forgotten it. I, too feel the impeachment processes are very flawed and that this president has been targeted since he was elected. I think there are many more things Congress could be focusing on. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks so much for your review, and I agree with your comments. It seems there's always a political angle to impeachment. judi

The piece of work is an intriguing and informative piece of history. Well written and easy to follow, I enjoyed reading it through. Good grammar and excellent English command. I also liked the appropriate use of punctuation. Keep it up and I highly recommend your work to others.

Informative as always. () Had Edmund not stood firm I believe there would have been many impeachments to follow a few that might have been endangered.)( Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Harry Truman, for the firing of McCarthur.

Thanks for your review and comments. We may find more and more impeachments happening in the future. judi

So do I. I can't see having an impeachment every time the opposing party wants to get rid of or damage the president. Nothing will get done if that happens. judi

Judi,

I totally agree. Impeachment is a scary and formidable procedure. It's amazing to me that, when Trump is one of the first presidents EVER (in recent history?) to actually keep -and perhaps exceed- campaign promises, and that when our economy, in so many areas, is better than ever, there are those diligently seeking ways to get him out of office ALTHOUGH -as far as I know -they don't seem to have great happy fabulous plans for afterwards!!! Ha!

Can you say 'cutting off your own nose'???

Sometimes I am puzzled. But then, I do have a very small brain.

This was very interesting, well written, and timely. Thank you!

This is the big I day in the House. I don't see it myself. They began clamoring for impeachment from the moment Trump was elected. Most of what they have to go on it hearsay and no way is the Senate going to get enough votes to convict, so it's all for show. judi

I found this to be a most informative and well-written essay. I too, consider Mr. Edmund G. Ross to be a hero. Just because some people in congress consider themselves superior to the president intellectually and politically, should not be reason to invoke the powers of impeachment or to attempt to remove a president from office. It should be reserved for a president who actually commits a serious crime. In our current situation, it appears to me the only crime is in the conjecture of the accusers who believe they know what was in the mind of the president. I am inclined to feel they do not have the right to attribute thoughts and motives to any person when there is plenty of contradictory evidence. Thank you for enlightening us on this historic event. Your writing is exceptional.

Thank you so much for your review and the honor of the six stars. I appreciate it so much. I became interested in Johnson's impeachment because I did see some similarities to the current situation. Political motivation seems to have created both. I hope we don't go down this path where every future president will be subject to impeachment if the opposing party wants to remove him from office. judi

It's a very well written essay about an impeachment process as it happened in the eighteen hundreds. Well, an impeachment process is taking place today and the world is waiting for an outcome. I've grown up in Europe and I now live in Spain. All I can say is that we don't particular trust Trump over here. I'm being diplomatic.
Even the Republicans did not trust Wade because they thought he would a dangerous dictator. = ... because they thought he would be a dangerous dictator.
Very well written and well argued. All best. Ulla:))

Thanks so much for your review and comments, Ulla. I understand that Trump doesn't cut aa very dashing figure on the world stage. I don't know how anyone with his education and position could be so coarse in his behavior. judi

Informative historical perspective to describe how impeachment came up in the past. Johnson sounds like he had to keep plowing and planting the field in spite of crows trying to eat his grain.
With this sentence: President John Kennedy saw Ross as a hero, and devoted a chapter to him
You don't need a comma after the word 'hero' there, since it has a double verb: President John Kennedy saw and devoted
Another possibility is to leave the comma there and insert 'he' in front of 'devoted.'
Great piece here.

This is a very well written post about Andrew Johnson and they way they wanted to impeach him, but he was not guilty of any crime. You used very good descriptive words and very good picture. Thanks for sharing my friend. love and blessings, Teri

You've done a great job with this story. I can tell a lot of research went
into this work. There were many things I didn't know about the
impeachment.
