Where were they with those machines that pulled taffy?
I've been familiar with taffy for most of my life. I remember, as a child, my parents and I going from NYC to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where they made salt water taffy (we didn't go specifically for taffy, but we always came home with some). To this day, I've never seen it being made anywhere. I suppose there must be taffy klatches going on somewhere in town.
(I figured, since you wrote about that guy's taffy memories, you'd want to hear about mine, too.
Let me know if you want more.
;)

Guess it's harder to find with more health nuts out there in the past twenty years. Thanks for reviewing!

    You're very welcome, Crystie!
(I take it you're passing on more taffy talk.)

This seventy-five-word story, Sweet Expectations, has the correct word count and pulls the reader into a sensuous tale that ends up with candy behind glass. Satisfying?

Oh this is a fun flash fiction, Crystie. I DO remember the old taffy machines at the "beach," as we say here in the US. Somehow taffy never tasted as good as it looked and it would get stuck in my teeth. Great job. Good luck in the contest. Marilyn

So, that's what taffy is. I thought it was another word for toffee. I could never get my head around the salt water reference until salted caramel popped up in Tasmania. Well done for a grin.

This is very funny and easy to relate to because those machines can definitely be mesmerizing. (I could stand and watch them for a really long time before wanting to move on.) Best wishes with your sweet entry! :-)

Hahaha - isn't it fun writing short, shorts like this? It's sure fun reading them. You did a good job with this - no wasted words. Just the right amount to grab the reader and keep her engaged. Hugs, Lou

Very clever Crystie. You set that last line up very well. You lead the reader down the primrose path and then slapped them with the reality of the story. Good luck in the contest. Robert

This is so wonderful, artistic, and hilarious at the same time. It begins with the two of them looking almost sensually at whatever is in front of them. When we find out it's taffy, we can laugh out loud! This is very well written, very creative, and plain old funny. Great work. Good luck in the contest!

Hello Crystie, this is very well written with a most unexpected ending. What gave every indication of being a very sexy piece of prose turned out very differently. It made me smile - of course, this is exactly what you intended it to be. You succeeded - LOL! Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy xx
