A very well-written explanation about faith and works that work together in order to find salvation. Jesus Christ died for our sins but that doesn't mean we can keep sinning and hide behind our faith.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Yes, some feel receiving God's assurance from His word we are saved forever as soon as we believe
makes us just want to go out and wallow in sin. I find just the opposite; those who believe His Word gain peace and want to be with and serve the One who bled and died to make Heaven our home by taking away our sin forever.
They don't take Christ ay His Word but want to add conditions to His offer of free salvation. Here's what He said about this all important subject of being right with God: John 5:24 ?Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me HAS EVERLASTING LIFE and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."

Now I wonder...do you believe what Jesus said above all others in this matter of salvation? He said believers HAVE eternal life already
and will NOT be JUDGED! That's because He was judged in our place! This why we have joy. we've been set free forever from condemnation.

It's interesting that you take the passage of Scripture where Jesus offended the Jews of His time with referring to "eating human flesh" (against the Law) to explain faith vs. works. I thought you would dwell more on Paul's writings, that we have been saved by "grace through faith."

And why did He offend them? Because they had ignored the Prophets who clearly foretold His death, burial and resurrection. If He chose to "offend them" by teaching we must eat His flesh and drink His blood in order to have eternal life, we can believe the offense was intentional to wake them up from their false confidence in being the offspring of Abraham.

There is no difference between what Christ and Paul taught on salvation. It is by grace through faith and as we can see, the eating and drinking Christ spoke of can never be twisted to mean a physical act. It's something which must simply be believed in order to receive eternal life.
Adam was banished into sin by eating forbidden fruit. We, his sinful descendants, are saved by eating the fruit of the tree, the cross.
God bless you, thanks for reading and commenting, Dennis

Thank you, Deniz. I always feel like I've been to Sunday school class when I read your posts. I was a Sunday school teacher for most of my adult life. It's wonderful what you shared today, and foundational to our saving faith.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally :)

My husband's parents are kind of both. Believing you have to be baptized by water and have Jesus in your heart. I believe it is by your faith and relationship. This is good

God sees true faith in Christ even though it may have some misunderstand attached to it. Sometimes we forget how the great Apostle struggled to grow in faith and understanding and how patient Christ was with him. Christ also rebuked him on occasion for his own good and the good of those he would minister to after Christ ascended. God bless, and Happy New Year! Dennis

Sounds like a pretty well-thought-out treatise on what faith versus works involves. It sounds like the Jews put more faith in dead prophets and had difficulty acknowledging a live manifestation of God's family right in front of them. Here is a great line showing the importance of obedience: Those claiming to be his spiritual children should walk as he did.
Thanks for posting early in the new year!
