"Trill of a Lifetime:20 Birds", is an exceptionally well-written and delightfully well-written piece. To me, this is a six, but unfortunately I've run out of them. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Hello anon, this is really well done. Very cleverly you have listed twenty different species of birds and incorporated them beautifully into a rhyming poem - abcb form. 'see cardinals in regal crests and capes.' - very good, using the word regal, and alliteration of the letter 'C'. An overall very good poem. Good Luck - regards Dorothy x

What a great poem. To know so many birds and their habits is amazing.
I can see all these birds as they go about their business. Big ravens, small
sparrows, and cardinals. Good luck.

A very well-written twenty item list poem. The variety of birds in the area are impressive. Each one has his own features and characteristics but they mostly live peacefully together.

-I cannot resist a good
bird poem!
-Very nice image and
presentation.
-Your notes are appreciated, too.
-You did a good job of making
a list very poetic.
-I like all of the birds you included
with very good imagery.
-A couple of lines I particularly liked:
"goldfinches flit like promise of sky's gold."
"Blue jays are jaunty, cheerful in the sun"
-A very good conclusion, too.
-An excellent entry; good luck!

I enjoyed your contest entry, Mystery Author. Your list reads well--not just a list. The descriptive wording and rhymes add to the enjoyment. I have seen maybe 2 or 3 of the birds listed. We have mostly sparrows and grackles here. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

Dear Author I find no fault in your writing.
You are very lucky to be living near a place that has at least 20 species of birds all in one place. No wonder you were thrilled. I am glad that you got a rhyme in here and there and wish you had more time to discover more.

That sounds wonderful. I'd love to see them all. At this time of year we don't have many birds around here. The sparrows stay the winter, as do the crows and magpies. I 'm not really a birdwatcher, but I do enjoy them at the feeders occasionally. Best of luck in the contest.

I just love this poem! You obviously know a lot of birds, and didn't just decide to pick up a bird manual and study it, to write this poem -- besides, your notes explain that you were at the Bear River Migratory Refuge in Utah.
I am amazed at the way you wove the many names, characteristics and behavior patterns of these many bird species into a beautiful poem!
My husband is into ornithology, so I will have to read your poem for him, for his delight and enjoyment.
I would like to share it with my brother and sister-in-law in Montana. He works for the Forest Service there, and so did she, before they started a family. My brother-in-law there also works for Fish and Game. I think they would all enjoy this. I wonder if I could copy the link for this page (where your poem appears) and post it on Facebook? It would have your copyright info at the bottom, as all of our work does. If it doesn't work, maybe I'll print it out at the library, and mail it to my brother and sister in MT, if you don't mind? I think they would enjoy it.
Your rhymes, presentation and choice of photo are also great. Wonderful job, with this!

Thank you for your interest. That is ok to email them. If you use Facebook for that I would prefer you wait a week until the contest is over. If your relatives are also involved at all with mustang preservation and adoption, I have also been writing mustang poems in addition to over 200 poems which mention birds in some way.
