Wonderful poem Sal. I liked it from beginning to end...especially here with these lines:

"your dream
lives on
in me."

God bless you and your thoughts too. x Bob

Thank you, dear Bob. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. It just came into my mind and I wrote it down in five minutes. I wish everything came so effortlessly. LOL. I was inspired, once again, remembering his speech and the life behind the words. I appreciate the six stars and kindest compliments.

Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally xo

This is a beautiful poem, Sally, in honor of Martin Luther King. We share his dream of equality through peaceful change. Very sad to lose him indeed. Marilyn

I always loved the idea of Dr. King. Your tribute is short, sweet and straight to the point. It is inventive and honest. I would of liked to have met MLK as I believe anyone who can inspire even after all this time is definitely worth knowing. Well done. xoxo Kiwi

I am pleased you were inspired by the Club's prompt to create this tribute to Martin Luther King. I admired your focus on his dream and your accenting your poem with the keyboard. Here's to his song of "peace and oneness". Cheers- Joan

Such a beautiful but simple tribute. I can't imagine but the late reverend would have really liked this piece. You have eloquently told so much in so few words. Bravo!

This is a splendid tribute both to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his dream of focus on a person's character rather than outward appearance, and to those today who live that dream in their hearts, minds, and actions.

My father taught me this attitude a quarter century before Dr. King's famous speech; and one of many reasons for my choice of marriage partner, several years before his speech, was that it was her view too.

We must never let the haters of this world divide us into easily manipulated splinter groups on the basis of appearance or other factors irrelevant to a person's inner worth.

You express the key points concisely in this aptly illustrated poem, and the "Ebony and Ivory" video completes this superb package.

You are most welcome, Sal. I like this post enough to ask whether you would consider contributing it to the Third Edition of my literary art book, Till Shadows Have Eaten the Moon -- Songs of Life and Love for possible publication later this year. The Copyright will remain with you, as this would be a non-exclusive license to use. -- Mike

Of course. I'd be delighted. It would be a great honor! Sal :))

Thank you, Sal. I will devote two facing pages to your poem -- the left for annotation and illustration and the right for the poem itself.

These pages will follow "The Cold Within" by James Patrick Kinney (1923-1974), a famous
poem now in the Public Domain because in the mid-1960s he freely distributed it widely at the request of clergy of many denominations. Here is a video made from it by Gevas Moyo, who narrates the poem and portrays the black man in the group:

Beautiful sentiment in response to the picture challenge honoring Dr. King. I like that you focus on him and his dream and that you have taken his dream to heart.

This is a poignant tribute to Martin Luther King. I love the picture you chose. I knew what you were trying to say even before your author's note. This is a great metaphor. The reader is challenged to take their own temperature as they read this poem. The reader is also invited, though, sadly, not all will accept. They are invited to join hands with you and all in the warm circle of peace and love. May it circle the world. Well written.

Love, love, love this. No sixes though! That is what MLK would have wanted I am sure. They are naming a Navy ship after an African-American that earned a prestigious medal, I recently read. I was like...yes!!!
I like your big font because the piano looks like it is zoomed in...nice effect! worthy poem:)
