Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
This true story was very well written several true events.
It read well and Flowed well with no Grammar Issues as you were tempted to dance with the Devil!
...
This was rich beyond compare in Theme and Imagery.
...
When I was much younger, occasionally I was asked to do the deposit at the local Bank of Beach Haven.
Which was right straight across from our supermarket business.
(Foodtown)
...
It was Friday so I would be getting the change the cashiers would need for the weekend.
It would be rolls of change, from pennies to quarters, and single $50 packs of dollar bills.
...
The bank teller was very nice to me as I waited in a symbol of my order he was young and male.
...
As I was carrying a rather heavy large bag bag pile of packs of singles were on the top.
(About thirty)
...
now as you're well aware they should have been singles or George Washington $1 bills.
But I noticed they were pictures of Lincoln's and also Jackson's which were $5 bills and $20 bills!
Instead of being packs of $50 total?
They were packs of $750.00
I easily had $25,000 worth of excess cash!
And I easily could have taken out...
Ouch!
$1,500 and got the shingles from another bank and been ahead $25,000 Dollars!
...
Can you say....
'Caribbean cruise here I come?'
And, what the Hell!
The banks have insurance for doing stupid things that happen I guess?
...
And, of course I didn't even make it to my car as I turn immediately around brought it back in and said...
'Am I supposed to get this?'
.....
Believe it or not that was the second time I was tested by Satan!
...
Probably about five years earlier, when I was 20 years old, it would happen for the first time.
...
Now back in the Early 70's my brother David and I both would ride our motorcycles on trails.
Because my brother like to do it to find junk!
He call it "junking"
...
after he felt he had found himself enough treasures off when we go to the "Englishtown auction"
In Englishtown, New Jersey.
...
I brought in some old silver coins as I loved collecting coins!
And, even as a child my mom would go to the bank and get me and Morgan are Peace silver dollar!
And, I thought I was rich as a child!
..
And, now if I made the wrong decision I would be?
It was just daylight and hawkers were coming around!
These are people that want to buy your entire merchandise for nothing and then they of course.
Will sell it there at the auction and make a nice profit!
...
That's when he came around!
He was about a nine-year-old on a bicycle with a backpack.
And he asked me if I buy coins?
I told him that I was there to sell my coins!
He then reiterated and as he did he took off his backpack?
Inside his backpack with something I've only seen once in my life.
On a class trip to the Federal Reserve Building or in the Mint in Philadelphia.
...
Now being a numismatic, I do know coins, the gradings and also the values.
Novacoin can be graded from as little as poor, to very good, fine, extra fine, and then we get into the uncirculated grades.
..
and circulated grade start out of BU 60, and move up from 60 to 63, 64, 65, 66, and eventually up to the highest grade reading of BU 70 or proof!
A proof coin is double stamped at the mint for definition and is also coated with chemical corps cream of tartar to make it more lustrous!
...
Now gold coins come from the smallest amount of $1 all the way up to a $50.
Which was never circulated to honor the Pan American Games in 1914.
From $1 to two and a half to five until 20 these are the normal denominations of circulated past gold coins.
Your picture shows the Sachawatching's or Indians.
I recently gave my grandson Alex two $25 Ulysses S Grant rolls of $1 coins for his birthday and of course in just uncirculated condition.
And never touched.
...
This kid took out of his backpack what you would call, "A Pinhead dollar coin collection."
And yes it was from 1800's.
And they were all encapsulated in a folder and they were all so we're complete.
Now when I wanted to check out at today's prices those coins individually they go from $55,000 and up!
(Coin World Magazine)
...
And, when I contacted the dealer in that magazine.
Monaco Rare Coins.
I talked to a man named Mario.
...
And, when I explained that Story.
As if it had just happened?
He told me as far as he knows there's only three complete collections in existence and they're priceless!
...
So over 50 years ago I had something back then I would value in at least half a million dollars maybe more?
...
To make a long story short?
I told this kid who wanted $20 for the collection.
that I did not know where he had gotten it from but to return it immediately!
That one day those coins which were rare would put him through college... Give him a large house and start his business!
Perhaps and yes!
Much, much, more!
...
So, when I was tempted with the bank monies? There was no question as to the decision that I would make!
And, today I can rest easy cuz I made not only the right decision but it also makes for interesting story!
Thanks,
Ricky

It sounds like people that day were having a bad time counting money. Congrats for being honest about it. What is gained undeservedly will surely come back to us in loss. Marilyn

A very well-written heartfelt story. Yes, it is tempting and truly becomes a fight between honesty or guilt for the rest of your life. You made the right choice and I would do the same.

Barb
Loved the way you wrote the story. Like sitting across from you and sharing a mango.
Or avocado.
It's good to have friends . They make life meaningful.
:-))Z.

I'm so glad you shared it. I know you could have used the extra money, too but it wouldn't be worth the guilt that came with it. I once went back to Target when I realized that I was charged for only two plastic plant pots instead of three. The Customer service lady laughed and told me to ignore it. She was so surprised that someone would want to pay the correct amount.

You told your story well, Barb. I enjoyed reading it and would never think you would have kept what wasn't yours. I commend you for your honesty. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully with Love, Jan.

I would have expected no less of you, Barb. I know how tempting those times where. I've been there, too. But there's so much satisfaction in doing the right thing, it makes penny-pinching a little more bearable.

You did the right thing, Barb, you would never have forgiven yourself, you are too honest to have that on your conscience. I'm proud of you, and you have every right to be proud of yourself too. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx
