cute, Steve. Must be something like me, singing Streisand, mostly silently now, but the memory lingers and the mouth opens silently. Thank heavens. The neighbors would probably complain, Lol! "Mute joy puckers lips." I'm with you!

Thanks, Adrienne. At least my whistling is mute - my singing is not, but luckily we have no neighbours, although the wife, the birds and the beasts have to suffer - not always silently!

Back in the day a wolf whistle showed appreciation for a pretty girl. Your character may have lost the knack but he can go through the motions. Gotta keep trying is a life lesson.

As always, I enjoy your unique approach to these contests. Good luck, Steve.

Blessings Julia

    Very tactful, saying 'your character.'

Thanks for the review. This one just floated into the brain.

The art might be lost, but the memory of the joy felt when whistling remains, thus the joy and puckering the lips that recall what once was. Great job.

    Thanks you.

I am a little sad that my whistle has gone, but what can you do. Anyone know where I can find a gym for my lips?

    Thanks for stopping by.

A humorous slant to this poem makes it even more enjoyable. And I really like our friend who's trying, but can't make the sound work!

With best wishes, Writeling

Thanks, Dolly. I can't even determine just when it happened. Now all I can produce is the occasional peep. Is there such a thing as a lips gym?

This is humorous to me for some reason. The words flow together really well. I am happy there is still joy in the writer even though they are facing lost natural talents.

This is a fun, delightful, and clever poem. I cannot whistle but It never entered my mind to put puckering to a more positive use. Thanks for the laugh and reassurance that not being able to whistle is not always not a negative point.

I think this is a good entry for the 3 Line Poetry contest.
This short verse tells of whistling and puckering lips.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.

This is a very good entry for the three line poetry contest. Your syllable count is correct. Your story of not being able to whistle but can still kiss is cute. Great job and thank you for sharing.
