My, did I enjoy this "Poetry in Motion"! It is entertaining, informative, extremely well written, has a sense of humor and gives LOTS of information of the black poet Arndell, thus fitting to the T the assignment of this contest. The whole piece of this general non-fiction entry is polished, flawless and makes a nice read. I have no option but a six stars.

Thank you so much. Mr. Arndell is one of the most loving people I've ever met and after writing this column about him 20 years ago, we're still friends.

I love that pickup truck photo - it was what attracted me to read your story - but then the tale of this wonderful man connecting his poet's soul to share with others is beautifully told by you.

Hi Susan, this is such a fun story of success today in the hearts of men through art. The sharing of it and making yourself feel good through the teaching and sharing your craft with others, freely, like people used to do, before they all got so greedy. :)

This was extremely interesting, I am going to read the full book and recommend it to all my friends and family. Keep up the amazing, fabulous work! Your diction choice kept me interested to see what was going to happen next. Many honor black poets but it is extremely obvious that this man is a hero to you, this person is someone that you look up to.

Yes, he is very special to me, and he was very special to my son who at fifteen, bought a copy of Mr. Arndell's book with his own money. When my son died a year later at age 16, I donated a copy of that book to his school library.

Well done, Susan. Poets do tend to be solitary people.
And not a lot of folks would get all that excited
about finding a poet's pickup in a grocery parking lot.
Interesting story.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

Yes, my columns came about in many strange ways. I wrote this 20 years ago and Arndell and I are still friends. He's still writing and working with kids.

Such a great story. So lucky to meet such a fine poet. I like that he does poetry workshops with the children so they learn about poetry and how it can touch their souls.

Just a couple things I noted:
"I don't want to sub today(,)" as I - add comma
said(,) "Susan, you've got to come see - add comma

Thank you for your review and for catching those missing commas. Yes, Mr. Arndell is quite a guy. He writes kids' books and has a local TV program for kids.

I loved reading this. It is very informative material about a interesting man, who I had not heard about before. I will definitely look up his poetry because I have a love for good poetry and I 'd like to know what his is like.
This should do well in the Black History Month contest.

I think this is a good entry for the Black History Month in America contest.
This short story is well told in prose and poetry.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.

What a wonderfully written tribute a poet. Poets don't get respect like they used to. Poetry is a tough sell to kids and I'm glad he's still working though.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day and God bless.
