What we enjoy between the darknesses is what we call life -- wonderful, invigorating life! In life we paint faith and belief because we don't remember (don't want to face?) the darkness. But there in the darkness is where faith and belief are born out and take their foothold... what's there? Only faith knows... An awesome offering, Colin, probably my favorite of yours to date, my friend: it flows well and is laced with vision and thought-provocation that follows the reader long after the read-through is done! ;) Oh, but for a six (sorry!!)... Thanx for sharing, sir!! ;) Yvette

Hi Colin, talk about your 'race against time' right? ;) If you lose that one you're just done. ;) Then again, after that it's all one big race after race after race... always trying to keep up with the world. Ugh! ;)

Hey, Colin, you promoted your work! Hooray! Love that photo, too!
You're right that we enter into light from darkness. In fact, in Spanish to give birth is literally "give to light."
I disagree about the lack of prayer as I prayed a LOT when I was expecting my kids!
Well done poem!

Excellent it has good connection and contrast with a spiralling emotion just as the picture describes it is a great void which becomes our end that the piece is determined and focused with and on to deliver a reason of what is basically called annihilation in our end existence ... it is an interesting piece showing some dedication and delicacy with an air of freedom.

Many thanks, some have took it the wrong way,but you are right.
Photo from the Monument in London, I had the back braking pleasure of measuring each nosing for replacement, but found mostly they had weathered differently, 300 or so, lol.

That is so nicely written and so true. Yes, I guess when our end comes we all focus on ourselves not the ones who came before. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this poem.

Funny in the movies that place is light, now joke aside, this is a lovely poem that makes you feel like being in a circle that tosses you aside. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writing

Colin,
I thought your poetry was very well constructed with the right meter and rhyme.
That being said, I thought it a bit depressing. I understand not everything or everyone has religious feelings about the afterlife or pre-existence but, thanking the darkness for bringing you here,? How did darkness find you in the dark?

Just had to ask!

Thanks for sharing

Hi, what I mean is there was darkness before I was born and there will be darkness when I am dead, both ways I will feel or see nothing, It's only when alive we can see and do the things we choose,so why waste time? on believing the impossible..the other eggs in our mothers womb did not make it, no miracle just the strongest survive. Cheers Colin

What a wonderfully written poem and I love the picture. We do come from darkness then hopefully into the light of hope. Best of luck with your writing!

Have a great day and God bless.

From this poem I presume that one does not believe in life after death. Though most would find this daunting, I can feel the writer is at peace with this. An unusual perspective portrayed extremely well.

Hi Federick, It is not a case of believing in the after life, it's just plain impossible with no substance no fact or anything to warrant this, live your time well while it last and feel blessed just by the fact that you made it past the first hurdle, on your own. Cheers Colin

Our creation and survival is always a struggle against great odds. I don't know how I could continue without the knowledge that I am resting in the arms of a gracious God who has loved me even before I was born. I enjoyed your posting very much, Colin!

Thank you Janet and who am I to disagree with your last comments, as the poem we are all fighting to make sense of what life has brought our way and we do this in different ways, mine is different that's all but with the same ending. Cheers for the stars and your kind review. XX
