Excellent advice at the end there, Jay. Write away your depression is the best way to handle it. Material things soon become dated, old, ruined, but friendship can last a lifetime given a chance. I enjoyed reading your lovely poem, my friend. :)) Sandra xx
Hello Jay, wise words from you in this poem. Very well written. So true, we are not in command - we can try but we cannot decide on the important things like life and death. But we can, a you say, make the most of life while we can - you always write such good, understandable work. Thank you for the read. Regards Dorothy x
This is a well written poem about enjoying life and how writing will cheer you up. One little mistake: on line 10 acquire is spelled wrong. Your meter and rhyming pattern are well delivered. Great job and thank you for sharing.
What a wonderful message, Jaybird! Yes, friends are much more valuable than any material thing. And thank you for giving us wise advice:
"Seek contentment and peace of mind,
as you labor, day by day.
Try writing if you are depressed,
it will lighten up your way."
To be able to express your inner feelings in a manner or fashion that gets it out of your craw or gut. To be able to look at it, to sound it out. To get feedback from others who do not even know you. It is a cathartic exercise that can lift a heavy burden from you shoulders, your mind and your very conscious. You should try it if you have not yet done so. Good write.
You are so right. I found this site so I could have a place to read poetry and to write my own, the last 14 yrs have brought a lot of pain that I had to put somewhere, snd I found that putting it on paper was the answer. Thank you for this wonderful poem.
Hello my criend. You are the sort of person I would love to sit and chat with for a few hours.I have been around a bit and am 80 years old but always like to learn from intelligent, caring people, Jay.
