How very cool! This is such an original offering for the 5line, Gypsy, just love both the topic and the well-delivered sentiment! ;) I would suggest putting the name of the car in regular print (i.e., not all-caps) so that it is obvious that the 'VS' is a designation on the car and not an abbreviation for versus: Holden VS Commodore. ;) ;) Amazing how vehicles become such icons and carriers for so many of our memories, yeah? ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck in the contest! ;) Yvette

Price invaluable I think that might be six syllables therefore reducing the stars for non conforming ... I could be wrong so let me know I just had a quick look over it ... The car industry has been invaluable throughout Britain's history also but with the changing climate and trade agreements and dosh everything is moving abroad. As a piece it is a clever idea and shows a good creative flair with a sound and reasonable production of concept and idea it delivers a good image and helps us understand the effect on every day life that a poems voice can carry you should have it sent to the company with the pic as a keepsake for their history books lol.

Thanks again Bicpen. I googled the syllable count for invaluable, and it is 5 syllables, so I will get to work changing that. I appreciate the heads up! xoxoxoxo

    anytime ...

Here's an easy way to detect if your syllables are right normally works in most cases ... count the vowels in the word detract one from any diphthongs and detract any silent ones count the vowels left and you have the number of syllables ... easy peasy see ...

reply by the author on 15-Feb-2020
Easy peasy?!? Sounds highly complicated to me lol!

reply by Bicpen on 15-Feb-2020
you'll soon get the hang of it ... vowels a-e-i-o-u-y-l dipthongs two vowels together to make a sound ... ask one of the poets this guy might be able to help RSPOET contact immediately and crack your cranium lol.

A very well-written five-line poem about the golden factory closing down and your car that is still going strong and looks quite good for its age. There is not strong indestructable cars today that can last that long.

Thanks for giving a glimpse into the heart of a car lover, a phenomenon that largely puzzles me. You help me see it's part of your identity, both personal and national. Do you live in Elizabeth?

Thank you very much Darlene. No, I live on the NSW South Coast. I've always been fiercely proud of this car, and have tried to look after it. Recent events have affected that a bit though, but that'll change! Thanks again for your review and interest xoxoxox

There are so many things like cars and favorite haunts that I am learning about Australia among our writers here. I love it.

We all have something we cherish that's maybe beyond it's prime. Treasures that belong to our memories and hearts. Thanks for the delightful read. May the force of the Holden live on!

How much is this car valued? Looks like a solid, sturdy car...I've never known about this brand name. Like they say, if it works don't fix it. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks Rosemary. I don't know what the value would be now, considering he's nearly 23 years old. But, he's a limited edition, and I'm his only owner from brand new. A young fellow "in the know" told me that he'd be worth a fair bit considering I'm his only owner. I plan to keep him on the road as long as possible, as I feel his value will only increase as years go by, and also factoring in that no Holden cars are manufactured in Australia anymore. Thanks again for your comments!

It looks like a very sturdy almost all terrain vehicle. Dare I ask what that is covering the front of it? I like the well thought out and well written poem you've penned here about your car. I'm sorry to hear about you losing the car building industry there. Thanks for sharing this. Well done!

Thanks very much Jeffrey. The front of the car carries what's called a "bull bar" or "roo bar". I used to live in the country, and bull/roo bars are almost a necessity, as kangaroos often run out in front of you. The bull/roo bar is there to protect the front end of the car from damage caused by such a "visit". I've had a few of those too, mind you! Thank you for stopping by!
