I enjoyed your story. I like the idea of climbing mountains throughout your life. I love the idea how that has now changed and you see the
;real' picture with God's help. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

    Thank you for reading,
This was a special piece for me. I had been feeling low with the trouble in my family.
As I wrote this and talked of my weariness- I spoke to God in my heart. ?I do not want to climb, but I will obey your will for my life.?
So after all the woeful feelings, in my mind I started to climb that mountain. As I was writing this -I reached the top.
I did not know I would see this in my mind. I saw what heaven would be. Something with no end in any direction.
I just sat there amazed that God had given this thought to me.

What is a little mountain climbing compared to what God has prepared for us?

Also, I thought- heaven has to be this infinite place- God sits on his throne in a place without boundaries.

This poem describes climbing mountains & how it's not at all easy to do--it's a human struggle.
The faith part at the closing is welcome since the struggle is heading for unrelentingly bleakness.
The invitation to eternity can be upgraded a bit to make it more believable & convincing.

We certainly do start thinking and imaginging what heaven will be - as we age. Your stories of climbing mountains, I assume has double meanings. and all or lives we are climbing and descending, worrying and gaining peace, depending on how we live, how we view the future A good look at this condition. Well done.

It?s about intentionally choosing to serve others and to do the hard love. I often feel rebellious at one more mountain coming away. But I always climb......even if I do not know why.

Hi Flyaway! I'm so happy to hear that you've taken a step outside of your Chapel to take a look around outside the door! It was there all along you know. ;) Happy almost birthday... in case I miss the real thing... and remember, this is only the invitation to the party... the party itself isn't for a good long time... after all, 60 is the new 40! :) Plenty of time yet to look around and smell some more roses, play in the snow and soak up the sunshine. If all else fails, make cookies while it's raining! ;)

I do like the maturity that has come into my life over the last couple years. I am never still for very long. The journey may be hard but there are always others to journey with.

This comes across as very surreal, very dreamlike. It really is almost a prose poem, with the musical elements of the repeating 'mountian' phrase stitched throughout. What we end up is this sense of overcoming adversity, of the struggle of life to climb those never ending mountains in life, and then finally being rewarded with this view from the top; a glimpse of heaven. estory

Hello Flyaway1, a TGIFriday to you. Thank you for sharing work with us, it was an enjoyable read. Only one thing kept going through my mind as I read....
"There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb"

~Hanna Montana aka Miley Cyrus

Good job and have a great day!

Yes, the first part is so true. I love the imagery this creates in my mind. I love the ending, it's beautiful. This is very well-written and interesting to read. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this.

I often write about the things I find hard, but do not share a whole lot of them. I shared this one because I am starting to understand the immense joy of getting over the mountains to what God has promised. Felt that joy in this piece

-Very nice image
and good story, Karen.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-It's interesting how changing
into a new decade can
get us thinking.
-I like how you use the
mountains as a symbol for
obstacles in life.
-Your transition from this
outlook to gradually hearing
your name, and then concluding
with the sense of peace you have found.
-Thanks for sharing.
-I have a poem for the new decade
on Sun. Hope you stop by.

I like the idea you put in about a poem for a new decade. Makes me wonder where I will be. This review makes me ponder that question

I do not often share my laments, but God has showed me how much he loves me. The transformation of my idea about what heaven might be grew. I did not realize that until I wrote this piece.

I thought this was an excellent poem. Brings to mind 1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." Every mountain we climb now will fade away to nothing on that day. God bless you and thank you for sharing.

I appreciated your comments and love that verse. Life is hard and it has felt to me like climbing mountains that never end. I always know at the end that God has walked with me. My idea of what heaven is has been sinking in and I think every difficult thing in my life is taking me home.
