Hello dear Aussie. Congratulations on a wonderful POM and equally wonderful tribute to the Universal symbol of "Cuddle Me With Love;"
the beautiful Koala. I am not a religious man but the Koala existing
makes me rethink my views on God. Your poem does what all great poetry
should do: it makes the reader 'feel'. The world does share both your pain
and love for this heavenly creature and this poem expresses those feelings
for all of us around this beat and battered world of ours. Honored to read it and feel it dear friend. tom

Hello Tom, I think I answered this before. Anyways, we were absolutely devastated by the fires. People all over the World love the Koala Bear, symbol of love and I believe a unique gesture from God, love one another as I have loved you. Blessings, Kay XX

congratulations on your win!
35,000 koala bears died in the fires. That's terrible.
You wrote a very meaningful poem, and informative, and sad.
Hope you are doing all right. Guess you're going into Fall now? We are enjoying Spring these days. (but not the political furor)

Hello my friend, I sure got a kick out of my win. It was dreadful days when the fires took everything. Yes, we are in autumn. We don't have cold winters like you. Well, Trump by name Trumped by nature. Love, Kay.

we hardly had any winter at all. and today was 85 degrees! crazy weather. Everybody's planting flowers. Mine never stopped blooming - didn't get cold enough. :)
Have to take up for out Pres. I like him - not so much some of his tweets, but he loves this country and is trying his best for us.
The Corona virus has everybody thinking twice about going certain places - especially all us old, compromised folk.
    Good to hear from you!
    Take care.

Hello Katherine, Thanks for dropping in. Dreadful this Coronavirus. We are out of toilet paper through panic buying. I don't understand why? On monday, all public gatherings, sports etc cancelled. Yes, they say we are more at risk at our age! Love, Kay.

That was nail-biting, Kay, but you did it! This poem was so well worth it, you picked on a theme that is close to many peoples' hearts. The koala is such a cute and friendly bear, watching them come into the rescue centres burnt and in so much pain, was heartbreaking. It's all there in your Poem of the Month. Well done and huge congratulations again, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Yahoo! I did it. First time I have ever won Poem of the Month. I kinda knew it would touch folks overseas because the Koala is so loved by all. The babies are being hand-fed and slowly, ever so slowly recovering. Ta much my dear friend. Love, Kay and Toby XXX any pussycats yet??

Ciao poet. I gave you your 13th vote.

I found your entry overwhelmingly sad... The number of Koalas that perished is staggering .

I'm not sure if climbing up a tree in the midst of a blazing bushfire would have saved any ....it would have just delayed the inevitable by minutes.

I read that strong winds made the bush fires more aggressive/ destructive .

Question: were these bushfires deliberately set alight or was climate change ( hotter , drier weather) to blame ?

Hello new friend, Some fires were deliberately lit. Most were because of the drought (no rain for four months) Thanks so much for reading and your vote. Cheers, Kay.

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the led of so many koala bears in the devastating fires that raged for many weeks. I hope the few that could be saved will recover soon and start all over again.

Hi Sandra, Thanks for reviewing. Yes, our orphans are still being reared by ordinary folk who have thrown their homes open for the bears. They are not good breeders (they sleep all day) it will take a very long time for the next generation. Bless you friend, Kay.

This is just so sad, K. I can only imagine how frightened the Koalas are and what a loss for Australia and indeed the world. No doubt there will be many orphaned animals and it will take years and years to repair the damage of those dreadful fires.

A superb poem and a strong testimony to your community spirit and love for country.

Many thanks for sharing. :)

Gloria

Bless you my friend. I do appreciate your time and expertise. Tough times ahead for the orphans. At least the rains arrived to put out the fires that took over a million acres of farmland. Aussies are tough cookies. Thank you much XXK

Hi Kace. Thank you for sharing about the darling koalas and their rescuers. Everyone worries about their plight and danger of extinction with so many dying in the fires. We'll written. Love the image. Marilyn

G'day Marilyn, Thanks so much for reading my friend. They are not good breeders unlike the kangaroos that have to be culled. Triage set up in private homes is still going on, that is how much we love them. So many orphans to bottle-feed. Love, Kay.
