Thanks Jen. I like trying my hand at these short pieces, but I'm afraid I don't quite have the knack for them yet.

Hi Mark, This is an interesting Flash... A man decides to drown himself and ends up back on the beach. Redemption you say? I'm glad he thinks that way... some would get up and try again. ;)

Markie Mark,

What an enchanting story! I know a person that really happened to - and so do you. Have you ever heard Barb's story of when she tried to commit suicide?

She tried to shoot herself, but the gun jammed. Sad and depressed further, she went outside and pulled the trigger three times - pointing to the sky. The gun went off all three times. She figured it was a message.
I think this one is, too.

First, you should keep writing prose, and second, you should never try suicide. Of course, I'm really good at reading between the lines and finding hidden messages. You could never guess all that even if you read this a hundred times.

--sigh--

It's such a big responsibility-sharing my genius.

I did enjoy this - glad it ended the way I liked. ha

Thanks and good luck, bro!

A very well-written hundred word flash fiction about the suicide attempt that seems not to work out as planned when the waves of the ocean does you out still breathing.

A deep story, indeed, Mark. Sometimes the force of nature
exerts itself over our will.
I like the vague nature of the resolution.
I lean toward a coerced baptism, but that's just one read.

Best of luck with the Committee.

Peace, Lee

I very enjoy the innovate way you've crafted your flash fiction story, and the artwork of course adds just the right allusion.

In retrospect it sounds like there were other forces at work, whether divine or natural, if there is a difference.

Fine entry into this contest and I wish you great luck with the Committee. :)

Gloria

Spoken like a true Transcendentalist - I like the idea that there is not difference between the divine and the natural. Thanks for the review.

Hello, Mark Valentine,

The Deep is a fine entry for the 100 word contest.
I have been at the edge before and I know how it feels to want to end it all to stop hurting. Thank God I was wash to shore to see the sun come out from behind the clouds.

An excellent 100 flash fiction, my friend. I wish you the best in the contest.

Bravo for the "whence wave" (kidding you)
I always wonder where you come up with some of your posts. Your angry man is very determined, but is thankfully given a Heavenly reprieve. Forcefully written.
Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you Katharine. I've never seriously considered suicide myself, but I always thought that just walking into the ocean would convey the determination of someone hell bent on killing themselves.

I can remember a voice in my head when I nearly drowned, out of energy, in panic mode, the shore too far for me to make, speaking calming words, and suggesting a much more economical stroke, I made shore with ease, but that was long before I met the one who possessed the calming, gentle voice. Well done, Mark, excellent entry, good luck, blessings, Roy

What a wonderful story you have. I am certainly glad this is fiction. I was enthralled by the suicide scene and then to be saved by God's wave. Great job and I wish I could give you 10 stars but 6 will have to do. Shirley
